Equal Length Y-Pipe (w/vid)
It has a WSP full 2.5" exhaust with a magnaflow muffler and an equal length Y-pipe. It sounds amazing and butt dyno tells me that it gained significant power through out the power band (unequal vs. equal length Y-pipe). With the equal length Y-pipe, it's ALOT quiter and it's not raspy at all like it was before. It has a much more refined sound. The sound reminds me of a inline 6 with a nice exhaust (i.e., supra, bmw). I think I fell in love with my Maxima again.
It was only backfiring slightly because the engine wasn't fully warmed up.

Actually I was welding a little more like Jeffy
Your exhaust is now on Jon94se's Maxima.

So, what is this an upgrade from- just a standard WSP mandrel bent Y-pipe and stock cat and catback to the modified ELYP plus a full WSP 2.5" catback and performance cat? I just wonder what we are comparing from pre-mod to post-mod.

sounds awsome dude....how about ur gas milage? any up and downs? my exhaust setup more sounds like a muscle car than tuner lol
and thats a pretty gud weld...just grind the mountains on it and then buffer it...its gonna look shiny and all nice

as soon as i learn how to weld it's something i'd like to try. tho without equal length headers it won't probably show out its true potential my design will be different tho, and will not have such a tight turnaround there.. rather passing the front bank pipe over the rear bank pipe.. the rear bank pipe will start out going towards the bumper then make a gentler bend and go across to the other side of the front bank pipe (which will move over 3 inches to go into the passenger-side of the junction) and the rear bank pipe will attach to the driver-side of the junction. that way the bends won't be as severe.

I should make another video with the camera a little further away because the camera was really close to the exhaust. Maybe I'll make an in-car video too.

I don't know about gas mileage just yet.
I don't want to grind it, because I don't want to sacrifice any strength and honestly, I don't care what it looks like as long as it doesn't leak or break.

well it won't make you lose ground clearance as long as you make the front-bank pipe OVER the rear-bank pipe. that way the rear-bank pipe, crossing under the other pipe, will be at the same level as the ypipe was originally. i'm trying to make a diagram of it.... i don't have CAD so, as only I can do, i'm making the whole thing in PowerPoint. Yes. I know. It's kinda sad.

i think the real tricky part is whether to have crossover happen behind the axle, between the axle and oilpan, or in front of the oilpan... i think that all depends on how much pipe you need to equalize the lengths in the first place, and how wide you swing it. i was thinking that angling the rear bank's pipe toward the crossmember and running the pipe as close as possible to the member without hitting it will give you a gentler curve and more flexibility with the design as well. not to mention the shifter support rod and its bracket kindof get in the way of making a REALLY wide sweeping turn... here is a pic of the underbody of my car for reference. the bar at the top of the pic is the passenger side axle. and pardon the mess... i still haven't fixed my tranny leak and apparently my ps pump or hoses are leaking too c'est la vie.
FYI, my Y-pipe is very close to being exactly equal length. I used a string to figure out my lengths.

No I was using gas but for some reason it kept wanting to burn through on the lowest heat setting. I was using a Lincoln Weld-Pak 175HD. Normally, I can weld better than this even with flux. It looks like **** but it doesn't leak.
