IMO there are no cons building a VG rather than a VE....I personally think it's all pros.....other than the 4 valve head! VG are more plentiful there are more performance parts for the VG engines (Cams, Adjustable Cam sprockets, Headers, intakes, timing is adjustable, fuel pressure can be made adjustable) address the weak areas such as the exhaust manifold studs, I would highly recommend porting the heads or at least port matching the intake and exhaust tracts.....You can gather parts from Nissan Motorsport, Z club etc

It's really just a time thing. I dont need to sell and is why ive not bumped the sale thread.
Can't really get to the car to finish up things I feel she needs like exhaust and body work. Then I've got my 260z (350z) project that has to stay behind the 3rd
Gen. Not even started that project yet. Have 98 percent of what I need and can't get started! Frustrating!!

My son will be driving in two years, so part of it is making sure he has a parking place as well. NO WAY will he ever drive that car.

I know the feeling! There's a family reunoin going o right now and I'm trying to finish my 4th gen exhaust TODAY....Every weekend my Wifey 's got plans to do this and that, or someone's sick or someone needs help on a car, it never stops....I've got 4 car projects going that aren't even mine....The Catera (Owner is presently Test driving), The Villager (head job), the Altima (rad cracked), the BMW 750 (rear coilovers).....then there's my crap! It never stops....all I can do is set back and grin cause people are willing to wait for my service!

One thing I don't think anyone mentioned is the hassle of putting a VE in a VG car -- you need to swap over wiring and ECUs, too. Augustus did do this successfully. It's not an impossible job, but it is not a weekend project, either.

My opinion is that if you have a VG now, build a VG turbo set up for your car. If you have a VE and know the ins and outs of it, stick with the VE and go where you want with it. I have always liked my VE and love the top end, but I think a turbo VG with VE trans/axles would be the better choice in your situation.

Even though the price might seem right to buy a VE drivetrain and put it in a VG, it would be a lot of work, maybe 100+ hours, to just end up having essentially a VE car. The value of these cars is not significantly different (VG vs VE) and you can buy either one bone stock off CL for $500 to $2,500 running and driving. You just need to be patient and find the right one.

Ahem...I'm formerly a VE junky turned VG holic. Still have a beautiful VE collecting dust along with EFI harness and ECU. I really have no use for it anymore. I have a rebuilt VG in my apartment waiting to go into my current build. With full turbo set up.
Let's throw up some pics etc.

Got a pair of low mileage heads waiting to go on

fully rebuilt T3 with new housing, balance turbine with dynamic seal.
The list goes on but keeping it engine specific. Found these for ya.
Some of the older member prolly know who this is.
