No start after replacing timing belt

So my 91 timing belt broke while I was driving. I was able to change it via the timing belt replacement guide I found online. I did have someone help me with making sure the timing was lined up. Anyways got everything back together and the car doesnt start. Just turns over. Doesnt make any unusual noise or anything. I have heard something about this possibly being a interference engine in which case might of damaged the engine when the belt broke. Is this true or is there something else it could be like the timing maybe?
I believe it is the vg30e motor

All engine are interference , did the belt break when it ran chances are you probably bent the valve when the piston hit it you have to pull the heads off and see what kind of damage was done

Check the basics, fuel, spark, compression, etc. Perhaps you are overlooking something minor like a ground wire or something unplugged.

Not to be that guy but that's not entirely true. The VG in the Quest and Villager is non interface.

Thanks. Yes all the above seems to be in working order. I'm kinda just thinking something wasn't lined up right maybe.

Thanks. I checked the compression and all the back cylinders 1,3 and 5 were all reading 0.

#2 cylinder was about 60
And # 4 and 6 were at around 120

So I'm guessing the valves or worse got messed up?

Yup, the engines is done. Valves are bent. Next step is to find a runnung VG to swap in. These early engines did not have the valve reliefs in the pistons like the Voyagers did. When Mercury used this design. You can do a leak down test, if the low cylinders dont hold pressure when the valves should be closed, it's toast.

Is it going any better now??? I wish your engine is fine.... I am sorry about it.

Maybe buy the spare parts upgraded instead of a swap could be more useful.

Also, think to order the reinforced belts for vg, depending on the model of the engine, they're helping save maintenance cost.

It only takes a few degrees of movement and the valves are toast unless it's a Van VG30E/33E

Just swap the heads. I just dumped a good set of heads the other day. Or if you swap the engine, go with a VG33
