I just put in the ZEX kit, but I have a VG. It was so easy to set up, and the fittings and such are a lot less complicated than NOS or JGE. I have 3 types of jets for 55, 65, &75hp too.

voltage issues??? Please elaborate, I was unaware there were issues. I have used it like twice, it's only been hooked up for a few days now. What throttle position switch issues are there? Thanks.

did you connect the control/solenoid box to the TPS?? I know the 4th gen guys were having a problem since the Zex uses a specific TPS to activate the solenoids and the 4th gens TPS voltage was higher then what was required! maybe the 3rd gens are different.

how many miles on your max nismo??? I want to get nawz, but i think I have too many miles...160k. But the engine is very stonmg and has n mechanical problems. If i did get a kit, i wouldn't run more than 50 shot newayz.

mialage doesn't really matter per sae(sp?)....as long as compression is optimal its all good! I'd be more worried about your tranny then the the motor!

no worries about my tranny, that's for sure (could use a new mount, though). Oh, and I have about 186K on the odometer but runnin real strong...

Really?

Wet or dry? Do you have a write up, or can you post some quick instructions? Where's the switch? Where's the bottle? And how much was the kit?

Sorry for all those...just curious.

$500 for the kit. I'll get some pics and update my page soon, don't worry. The selenoids and everything is all kept in this nice and neat box that bolts up to the firewall. The switch can be positioned to activate the system at pretty much whatever throttle position you want I think, but mine is set to activate when armed at about WOT. I plan on posting a link to my page when I get it updated with some good pics so look for it...

Hey Nismo Have you ran at the track yet with the Nitrous on your car? I would like to know what a vg could get with some mods and a 50 shot of Nitrous or a 75 shot.

well maybe it works then...as far as I know the Zex kit has to be tapped into the TPS. not sure but I know the 4th gens were having probs because their TPS wasn't registering the 4 volts(or higher )needed to activate the solenoids at WOT. maybe the 3rd gens exceed 4 volts though

at 90 degrees (throttle angle) voltage is almost 5v.

makes a lot of sense then! that does seem like a more easy an effeicent means of activation opposed to the usual WOT pedal switch the other companies use. I still think the traditional window switches are more accurate means though!(past argument I had)

On the new kits there is a sensor that is supposed to learn the voltage curve from the TPS. Maybe they had older kits that didn't have that capability.

No, but as soon as the race (Indy 500) is over I'll be taking it out. I plan on living at the track all of July and doing as much fine tuning as I can now that my old lady is leaving...

I'll definitly have to post some timeslips...
If anyone in Indy wants to see me I'll be at the IRP!!

What should the compression be to run nitrous safly??? And what are some signs of good/failing tranny? My auto doesn't slip at all, but shifts real hard. It jerks you when it shift, mainly from 1st to 2nd. Is this good?

I've been thinking about nitrous too, either that or a turbo but probably nitrous as I can get it installed here in town. If I do though, the first thing I'll be doing is a five speed swap.

jerking isn't a good sign at all, it might not be the tranny, but it might only be a motor mount especially since it occurs during the 1-2 shift. your tranny might not be bad now, but without a VB mod it definently won't last very long even on a 50 shot. compression for the VG ranges from about 128-170+/- PSI per cylinder...so you have to determine whether or not the readings you get are in an optimal range for the added cylinder pressure the nitrous creates.

You should keep stock compression. Most kits you will buy are made to be used with a virtually stock engine.

Yeah, I don't dissagree at all. I was just elaborating on why the compression should not be changed.

He's talking about cylinder compression.. not compression ratio. (ie checking for worn rings..)

thanks guys....I got a friend to ride with me and he said it's not sliping at all or showing signs of going out. I'll get his dad to check the compression too. And if all goes well, nitrous will be installed!!!
