hi,

i was reading a post in the 4th/5th gen board concerning GXE's being prewired for fogs.

how would i know if my 93 GXE is pre-wired? if so, what do i look for to make the respective connections?

i can go and purchase a SE mast if need be.

can someone please let me know. this thing is paining me and i want to do it correctly.

if there is website that details the installation of an aftermarket fog light on the OEM pre-istalled wiring i would appreciate it.

If it's anything like Altimas, you should find a white plastic harness with 2 wires. On the passenger side, it's just below the headlight, by the windshield washer fluid filler. For the driver side, you might need to remove the battery to find the connector. It should be taped with black or white tape to the frame or bundle of wires.

Mine is so I am sure yours should be too. Its taped to the wire that goes into the headlight, just like ThurzNite said.

do u have fogs installed? if so, was it a difficult wire up for you?

or was it:

1. add 15A relay to relay box.
2. connect wires from OEM to fogs.
3. Either fish harness from dash to new switch/new mast pole.

?

i do not want to burn anything that is why i am asking.

That is exactally what I did. I bought a factory switch off of ebay for $5 and used that for my lights. I think it just looks better then having an aftermarked switch in the car.

It is located to the right of the cruise control on/off switch. There should be a blank black spot right next to it.

big respect FF:

i ordered the switch from Nissan in Canada. Cost $43.50

i will be picking it up on Friday. Any ideas where to find a 15A relay to fit in there?

i checked Canadian Tire and they have zero...and don't even stock them anymore!

Wow $43 is kind of pricy for that switch, but it will be right and that is what matters. As for the relay, I ordered on from a dealership and it was the wrong one. I just went to an auto parts store and told them I need the fog light relay for a 94 SE. That way you get the right one. Hope this works out for ya, I love fog lights.

one last question:

according to this installation method, how do the fogs work?

does it go off when i switch on my regular driving lights?
does it stay on with the parking lights?

or is it fully controlled from the switch?

jason

oh...what color is the adapter behind the steering? is it the grey wide one?

js

i OWE u big time

The fogs are only on when your head lights are on. If you have your driving lights or high beams they will turn off. The switch can turn them off at any time. You can rewire them so that they can be on when the driving light are on, Craig has the directions for that.

I believe the connector is either white, gray or brown sorry dont remember its been almost a year. But it will be kinda hard to find because its taped to some other wires in there. Just keep looking and you will find it. Hope it all works out for you. Did you get factory fogs or what??

i do not think they are factory.

they are bosch yellow fogs...rectangular set.

i am hoping that the install goes without a hitch and also that the harness adapter behind the steering plugs in and matches up the switch so that i will be confident that i am attaching the correct one.
