Custom Cold Air Intake. Opinions?

I want to get this K&N filter.

I'll have a shop bend me the pipe for almost free.

Here is the filter dimensions. Scroll to the bottom of the page. Part number RR-3002.

http://www.knfilters.com/universal/univcustcap.htm

Good idea / bad idea? Opinions?

Trying to cut corners on car mods to save up for air bags.

What would be wrong with pressure bent pipe?

That type of bending crushes the diameter of the pipe yielding you less gains. A mandrel bent tube will not do that which is why you dont want to waste your money on a pressure bent one. Does that make any sense?

Go all out and buy the total package...cutting corners will most likely screw you over in the long run. I'm not saying that airbags are not important, I'm just sayin save up for the airbags first to get them out of the way and never cut corners when modding!

safety first

Safety first bro. Gaining a few extra hp is cool...but dying in a car accident because you didn't have an airbag, well...thats just plain stupid. Air bags are expensive I know...check ebay, I've seen a couple on there before.

Peace - Chad

Wrong Air bags my friend.

I am talking about Air Suspension. You know Air Struts/Air Bags.

Here look at this.

Well The shop would do it for almost free. Putting a CAI on the car to make it faster which is going to help a lot. But if I loose 1/4" radius I'm not to worried. I'm looking to make my Max faster, not to make it FAST. I know that my 4th gen will never be fast. I accept that. If I had a 2k2 or 2k3 and got a Super charger then I'd be fast.

Understand I grew up with American Muscle and they are trying to break into the 12's with N/A motor's. With my Max I'm lucky to be in the 14's. Kinda see my point?

Anyway I am really into custom fabrication of stuff. That's why I can buy things that I can't build. As in; I install **** myself or make it, then I save money to buy Rims or Air Suspension...etc. Just my mindset I guess.

Thanks for everyone's opinion!

$66 is a rip off for the filter. If it includes the MAF adapter then it's not too expensive, you can still get it for less.
From the looks of what you want, just do a cone intake and make your own upper piping, hybrid style.

i made a custom intake for my Deathmobile (1989 Oldsmobile Delta 88) It cost me about $90. I got a K&N from martel Brothers performance with the shipping it came out to be ~$40 and i got a mandrel bent pipe from JC Whitney for about ~$43 after shipping the rest i spent on high heat paint and rubber pvc pipe connectors (the exact name slipped my mind) it turned out great! My Olds flies!

I've got two airbags. black from a 97-99 it took me three months to find them used. I was gonna buy a crashed up max fix it and send it to a family member who wants to buy one off of me in Dominican Republic.(their real expensive overthere!its actually cheaper to buy it here and ship it rather than buy over there) anyway i ended up getting him a 97 camry but thats besides the point so what i'm trying to say is maybe i can sell them but i can't have a definite answer til wednesday cus i gotta go to the auction and see if i can sell them there. there about $1700 from the dealer plus installation and if you need a module thats another 700 so get back at me if anything. Ohh and if you do buy them new install them yourself their easy and its not as critical installation as people think. people say i don't trust myself with something that important!! WTF its pluggin in a plug on each airbag and tightening 4 and 6 screws
