he kept the stock block and put DETs replacements wherever he could he said that before

the other turbomax- Nigel runs, Turbo95Max hasnt doesnt really need to haah butt dyno tells us very much about his car

I think he said he's getting it DYnoed on the 10th so hold on. Pictures of what? He swapped some internals you probably can't see much difference...

Maybe pictures of how the VQ30DET manifold and Turbo fit into our engine bay?

Your set up looks similar to mine. . Me wanna built engine too! You're running boost already? Oooh! I'd run a while without it first to break it in and stay away from temptation. Then you can run like 16-20 psi! Did you lose much bottom end? Did you do anything to the heads?

congrats ... and welcome to the world of turbos!

If you don't mind me asking, how did you mount the turbo up? By this post is doesn't look like you used the stock turbo manifolds so I was just curious.

- Besides the lower CR pistons, what else did you change on the car?
Manifolds? Heads? Rods?

- Is there any place that can get us 9.0:1 pistons? I know that a lot of companies can make custom pistons to your specs, but does anyone know of an actual off-the-shelf piston set?
- Who knows, maybe after a gazillion miles (when mine finally bites the dust), I'll build the motor and go boost-happy.

Arias or JE??. They're as close to off-the-shelf as you can get

I will have pics soon.
Very nice work!! When I got the pistons, rings, and valve springs from the VQ30DET, performance cams from the VQ35DE and I shotpeaned the stock rods, I also asked Clark about using the crank and heads from the VQ30DET. He said they are so similar that it wasn't worth the money to fool with them. Instead I balanced and blueprinted the reciprocating mass and CC'd the heads.. I also used the OEM intake manifoldscwhich were extrude honed and gasket matched and the exhaust manifolds which were gasket matched and ported and polished.
It would be interesting to see how the performance of our 2 engines compare non-aspirated. They probably are very close in performance.

Rob did all the work himself. He's been working on that project for a while now.
Hey Rob, did you paint your front bumper yourself, or did you take it to a place?

I did it myself at my shop. I now have a full car spray booth at my disposal.

Tilley, thankls for the ride today

Four of us piled into the car and it still took off like a bat out of hell with 800 lbs of people in there. i did not know what to expect.

The car pulls like it normally would, sounds pretty normal and then all of a sudden the boost builds and away you go.

Engine looked great and the car sounded awesome. It was worth the one hour plus ride to get there and the twenty minute detour.

BTW the cars that were in that accident were both mangled. Coming home they had another road down my way detoured for another accident.

NICE RIDE = SWEET BOOST

TILLEY Why dident you just put the internals from the DET motor into yours, and just buy Negils turbo kit?

I'm pretty sure he bought the motor and everything else even before the turbo kit was available.

I'd still go with a built engine.

Tilley99, where can we get the VQ30DET motor again, and for how much?
