Problems Programming Key less Entry Remote
I orderd a remote for my 98 GLE from ebay, the instructions have me stick the key in and out of the ignition 6-8 times in 10 seconds and I'm supposed to see the side lights flash.
That does not happen.
I was doing it pretty fast in 10 seconds, and that didn't work, I tried it slower on a suggestion from the Dealership, that didn't work either.
Any more suggestions?

The first step of that process is to get in your car and lock the doors with the power door lock button on the door.
Then do the key thing and your hazards will flash.. Continue from there.

I tried doing it both ways, locking all the doors with the drivers lock behind the handle for opeining the door.
I also tried locking with the power switch next to the switch for the power windows.
Now I'm not sure which one of those 2 the instuctions reffer to, but I tried both, unless it needs to be done in some sequence

Dude, You have to close all the windows up and get in the car and lock the doors with the button inside the car like the guy said.
and put the key in and out of the key hole but the trick is try not to take the key all the way out.
Just take it out so the tip of the key is still in cause there's a little button sort of thing inside the key hole if you look and that must be depressed upward and keep on doing it for a while.
Don't just do it 6 to 8 times, Do it at a normal pace but on the quick side and don't stop for about 30 seconds and it will happen.
It has to or else your car wouldn't start when you use the key.

Replacing Remote Controller or Multi-Remote Control Unit (LCU05)
Enter the identity (ID) code manually when:
remote controller or multi-remote control unit LCU05 is replaced.
an additional remote controller is activated.
ID Code Entry Procedure
To enter the ID code, follow this procedure.
Entering "Setting mode":
(1) Close and lock all doors.
(2) Insert and remove the key from the ignition more than six times within 10 seconds. (The hazard warning lamp will then flash twice.) At this time, the original ID codes are eliminated.
ID code entry:
(3) Turn ignition key to "ACC" position.
(4) Push lock button on the new remote controller once (for example, if door is locked using the remote controller during this ID code entry enable state, a new ID code can be entered). At this time, the new ID code is entered. (The hazard warning lamp will then flash twice.)
Additional ID code entry
(5) If you need to activate additional remote controllers, unlock the driver's door, then lock again with door lock ****.
(6) Push lock button on the additional new remote controller once.
(7) This ID code entry enable state and setting mode remain until the driver's door is opened.
NOTE
If you need to activate more than two additional new remote controllers, repeat the procedure "Additional ID code entry" for each new remote controller.
If the same ID code that exists in the memory is input, the hazard warning lamps will flash twice but the entry will be ignored.
Entry of maximum four ID codes is allowed and any attempt to enter more will be ignored.
Any ID codes entered after termination of the "setting mode" will not be accepted. Additionally remote control signals will be inhibited when an ID code has not been entered during the "setting" mode.

Thanks a lot everyone, I got it to work!! .... ahh the luxury of power trunk, and power windows rolling down with the remote
How can I tell if I have the CC package? I have the alarm LED...I have a fuse in the alarm spot in the engine bay fuse box.
I tried looking next to the antenna in the trunk, that area is covered up by metal...so can't look in there.
I've tried putting the key fully in and out for over a minute...and I've tried putting the key partly in and out for over a minute. Still no hazards.
Any suggestions? My car is really starting to feel violated.
