Installed my new eibach/agx combo....help

I got my eibachs/agx's in! It dropped the car nicely and I enjoy the stability on turns and at high speeds. And even going over crappy roads isn't bad at all (agx set at 2/4). But the one annoying thing that I can't get over is the suspension movement on smooth roads! I can be driving on a perfectly smooth street and the suspension will still give me firm up and downs. It's so annoying! I thought that rough springs rode like stock over smooth roads and that the harsh ride was only over crappy roads.

Is there something that could be wrong or is this normal for eibachs?

have you tried adjusting your AGX?

no.. did you put the bushings back? and the rubber isolaters?

are you sure you didn't install the springs upside down? I did this and my car would bottom out like crazy..

remember.. closer coils at the top

Yes and yes...I'll check the springs again, but I don't bottom out..The suspension just always wants to move even on smooth roads where stock it wouldn't move at all. It's too firm to be moving all the time on good roads.

without actually being in the car to know what its doing.. it really doesn't sound normal..

Are these actually smooth roads or are there undulations in these roads, because with a stiffer suspension you will notice some undulations that you wouldn't have with the stock suspension.

Yes I realize you would feel the undulations in the roads...but I can even feel it on a completely smooth concrete paved parking lot going 5 mph!

HOw long has it been since the install? Don't forget the allignment. Throw in a rotation and balancing for the hell of it too. hope this helps.

Re: Installed my new eibach/agx combo....help

I have the same combo with the same settings. I feel the same bumpy things. I believe this is inherent with lowered cars that have stiffer springs. It's normal. This is how it was with my other car that was lowered. Go for a ride in some other lowered maximas and you'll see. or try H&R springs and post the difference. good luck

I'll try to take some rides in other lowered maximas and see if their cars do it. I love the springs I have now, but I don't know if I want to put up with this crap on smooth roads...I might have to wimp out and get h&rs if that's the only way to fix it.

Alignment...to much toe in or out and the car will fight its self.

Tire pressure...to much and you are driving a bouncing ball down the road.

Thats exactly what he's feeling. The stiff suspension isn't absorbing the small undulations of the road that the stock setup does. Your car now rides over them, similar to how a boat rides over waves.

Try setting your AGX's a bit softer to absorb more of the road imperfections. Say 1/3 perhaps?

If it can't absorb the small undulations I can't see, then I'm always am going to be moving around, not cool. I'll try a softer setting...hopefully it won't get bouncy on me.

Njmaxseltd....do H&Rs absorb the little undulations in the road well enough so you can't notice them like stock?

Its fine. All aftermerket springs do that. You have shorter springs so they dont have enough travel that why the car always taps just a little up and down. I love it.

this sounds like they are complaining about a stiff suspension. Aftermarket springs are STIFF. AGX are STIFF. You're going to feel everything in the road, especially with good tires.

Loosen up the AGX and see if that helps, but Eibachs are NOT known for a comfy ride.

Yes, they do a pretty good job. However, if I turn my AGX up to say 3 or 4 up front and 4 or 6 in the rear, I feel the same thing you feel.

Yeah it is stiff but I'm beginning to like them and get a feel for them. I used to feel like I was going to lose control when I switched lanes, went over bumps, going anything over 80, but now it stays planted on the ground.

I'll get used to the little bumps on smooth roads. Hey, do you guys think subframe connectors would help smooth things out a little?

I have it on the setting most people have it on: 2/4. It's not due to the agx...it is just that the eibachs are a stiff spring and you feel the little imperfections that even smooth roads have. I'm already used to it though.

AGX are a pretty stiff shock compared to tokiko blues which are absolute junk. i have mine set at 3 front, 6 rear. even philly roads don't bug me. just go slow over speedbumps. 1-2 settings all around feel more like a pillowy stock GXE. my steering weight goes way down. i prefer the "hunkered" down and heavy steering feel of the stiff settings. i like to feel the road with no body roll. just grow some bowling ***** and get the setup all you skeptics! another good alternative is sprint springs. has anyone tried intrax/agx?

hey sidewinder,
I just got a four wheel alignment and it made a noticable difference in my ride. the car felt more solid and the cornering was better. I could still feel the little bumps. Look at it this way, when you see the Irl or Cart cars race on the street courses, those guys are bouncing all over the place. You know they have tuned suspensions for performance. So if you lowered for performance there you go. good luck\ btw make sure you get an alignment from someone you know does good work. Get a referral or something

I just got the same setup. 1 and 2 not too soft? I haven't installed mine yet. How do you like them?
