brian, does your rear axle hit the bpipe on hard bumps? mine does sometimes. it sorta looks like it's sagging a little on that section. i was wondering how i could make it perfect.

my B pipe hits on very harsh bumps too! mine was custom made at a shop though, so its probably worse than Courtesy's B pipe.

I think im gonna save up for a Greddy catback and not have to worry about my exhaust making any kinda noise over bumps. While im at it im gonna change out all the muffler and b pipe hangers with polyurathane not rubber.

No big hits, just lots of rattles lately. I'll have it on a lift in a day or 2 to check my Yflex. I take a look and a pic to compare us.

Don't have to do it again. I got Stillen too, I just took it to a shop and they cut the pipe and welded a resonator on it, muffled about 25% of the sound, sounds awesome now!

As for the hitting issue, when I put mine in, it hit like 2 different spots, the people that put the resonator in did some mods to the hanger bar at the very first bend and now it is hitting NOTHING!

the courtesy bpipe looks very nice. it's 2.25 polished mandrel bent tubing and a rather large resonator on it. it's ideal on 97+. 95 and 96 have to purchase a blank Sbend with no O2 port from nissan. the downside to the design is the Sbend is still there. if i were to do it again, i'd go with the budget. i don't know if they're selling those through the mail or not. i doubt it. otherwise i'd go with the warpspeed model which gives you a lot of options. i have managed to run my times with my current equipment so i can't complain.

I also had mine custom made. It's 2.5" piping with the resonator removed, and Apexi N1 muffler.

i was considering Greddy SP as well(can i put EVO in my 97 SE??). but my friend and i are switching mufflers. i have apexi dunk and he has apexi n1. so im thinking about just getting b-pipe with n1. which one would you guys recommend? is it greddy, courtesy b, warpspeed b, budget b, or stillen b? it seems like warpspeed/budget aint gonna have b-pipe in stock for lil bit. please help me decide. my main concern is sound/looks and then performance.

thanks,
Tae

how do you like the sound?(my apexi dunk sounds like fart ) and what kind of pipe did they make you? have you noticed improved performance/sounds? how much did it cost you?

I love the sound. The cost of the Muffler was 100.00 plus 50.00 for the B pipe. At cuising speed of 65 MPH, I cannot hear the muffler. The only time I can hear the muffler is between 1500-3000 RPM's. I felt that the car pulled a little more than before, and reved easier. Oh, also I don't have the silencer intalled. I have sound clips of my exhaust if you want them.

isn't b-pipe from cat to the muffler? do you have one pipe? or they just took out the resonator?

I have a Stillen but i never installed it

i fear the noise

what makes the Stillen Catback so damn loud anyways?

Is it the muffler or the b-pipe?????

or a combo of both?

I have a muffler as well, it looks great in my mind but i don't want to install all this stuff because i heard that it is loud as hell.. i want to keep the noise down because i drive a lot and it might annoy me..

It's the combo of both. According to Stillen, they tune their SS muffler sound with Stillen Y, stock cat, Stillen B. And if you put a RT CAT in there, or use other brand Y or B, it will have a different sound then they intended. Call Stillen, they'll tell you the same thing. Like I said earlier, just have a muffler shop put a resonator on your B, you'll be fine.

I got the muffler off ebay. And it's the real one, not a fake one. The B pipe starts from behind the cat, and ends at the muffler..

Is the B Pipe really worth the money ($250+)?

If I bought the budget Y-Pipe, and a B-Pipe (dont know what brand yet), how much power would that add if I kept the stock muffler and stock cat?

Would there be a signifigant noise difference?

Thanks,
Dan

brian, did you cut the heatshields off? the rattling could be coming from the ones around the fuel tank. now if i can only raise the bpipe slightly for that extra inch of clearance over the rear axle...hmm

does the absence of the resonator make it that much louder?.....how about power loss with the resonator still on?

Yup. One 24" resonator muffles roughly about 25% of sound/drone/raspy-ness.

Actually with 2.5" pipe catback you'll lose some low end, but with the resonator I actually got some low end back.

not to sound stupid, but why is there low end loss with the cat back system?

Or you could always wait a little longer until cattman puts out their midpipe of course you might have to buy the muffler to fit though.

This is what 4 muffler shops told me......

"You lose back pressure, by going with a striaght thru pipe and muffler"
"With the resonator, you build your back pressure up again."

And butt dyno does confirm a loss in low end w/o resonator and gain low end back w/ resonator on my Stillen B-pipe and SS muffler.

It's out of aluminized 2.5" tubing, crush bent. Yes two pieces welded together, one that comes from the cat, and another that goes over the axle.

All the heatshields are still there - I'm not too woried. This is what my bends & clearances look like.

dude, just cut away the heatshields. i didn't think it would make a difference, but the rattles went away. my problem right now, is the bend over the axle sometimes hits on hard bumps. i need to raise the pipe .5-1 inch.
