well, there was a thread about this yesterday or the day before but i'll answer anyways.

i have the chilton's manual. it's not so bad, however it seems like most times people recomend pages and directions it's from the haynes and i wish i had that too. some people like one better than the other, some buy both. if you have the money, i think you're safe getting both. both are still good on their own...so yes.

'93-'99 or '93-'01?

One more thing - there are two Haynes manuals available, the '93-'99 and the '93-'01. I assume the '93-'01 contains all the info of the prior one with just added info for 5th gens? Does anyone know?

You have a 99 SEL, go for the book that includes the 01 cars. Some SEL's share the same ECU and a few other goodies that the 5th gen's have.

Go for the Haynes book up to 01.

Both books are only $20. I would just get both. They have 95% of the info that the FSM has. I have all three books, and I use the Haynes/Chiltons more than I use the FSM.
