the one cool thing about low 14 second / high 13 second cars is that you cannot buy your way there... it requires an expert driver who has the experience to launch the car and the knowledge to set it up perfectly. I drag raced for a full year before I ran my 14.2 with only intake, y-pipe, and cat-back. The weather conditions also need to be favorable.

So back to the subject: what does it take car-wise
1) Pop-charger
2) cat-back
3) y-pipe
4) MEVI
5) lightweight rims with tires that are favorable to launching
6) maxima must be in perfect mechanical condition with all maintanence done.

give me these things and I'll give you a 13.999999999

So your telling me when they said all they had to do was adjust the Nawws and he would be running 9's was not true. I mean everything else was factual in the movie why not this?

No, they said to adjust the injectors and run 9s. NAAAWWWWSSSS has nothing to do with it.

I assume there is a big difference between a high 11 and low 11 eclipse. You gained a good .5 in one day?

Forgive me you are correct my last run was a high 11 (11.677 actually) but it was late and I had just been talking to my brother about how my car should be running low 11s (like 11.4x) since we are closer to see level now and I can turn up the boost since I can now pump substanially more fuel. It was a grave mistake forgive me. I assume you have never made one. I hope to run my gsx in january, unfortunately the nearest track is about an 1 and 15 minutes away. I will try and post my slips if I run well. I am currently having compression issues but in early january I will have a garage so I can get to some serious work.

i don't think any of the guys were making fun of you (ok, some were), but the whole point is that you say you can put $8K into your maxima and have it run 11's where there are guys on here who have boat loads more money into their maximas than $8K and have not hit 11's, or mid 12's for that matter. all the other guys on here know this so we are all skeptical that you can run 11's or 12's for that. if you want to see some fast maximas, search for

Don in Texas
MardigrasMax
Phil
SX7R
Turbo95

and i hear some guy name Sprint is "suppose" to be quick

For 8k I could probally get real close if not into the 11s (just barely like 11.9xx). You just have to build up the engine, but the 8k I said wasn't what it would cost most people. In all fairness it would cost me quite a bit less, becuase I can do a lot of the work myself and I have friends that own shops up north who can get me the parts cheap.

Engine Mounts

- Has anybody found the need to go to the poly engine mounts that Cattman sells? Has anybody ever just plain broken a mount?

for the amount of money - i'd rather get a 300ZX or a 240 and spend the same amount and make more power

there are plenty of guys on here that have a shop of their own, have connections to a shop, are sponsored by a shop, or are just plain rich and can afford the mods on their own. $8K is just a figure. i dont doubt at all you can get parts for cheap. the whole point is that I DON'T SEE 11's IN YOU FUTURE. i've been around for 4 years now on this board, gone through two maximas, worked on countless others. i've seen guys try. the only maxima i can think of in the 11's is a 1st gen (RWD) with a turbo 350.

More power to you. From what I have read, traction eventually becomes the key problem for a FWD car like a Maxima.

Some people on here hit traction issues when in the mid 14's. I think it is all a matter of practice and the right setup like tires etc.

To be honest with you I don't see 11s in my future either, I bought this car as a decent perfoming vehicle to get me back and forth while I work on my eclipse and tinker with my Jeep.
