Can I put a popcharger on a CAI??

I just installed my CAI with the monster flow filter. I dont really like this filter and I have a spare JWT popcharger just sitting around. Is there any way that I can put the popcharger onto the end of the CAI tubing in the fenderwell??

Wouldn't you just need a hose clamp?

I am getting a velocity stack in the mail soon that I am going to try and incorporate into a CAI with larger piping.

I don't have a digi camera, this is the only one that was sent to me that was taken over christmas. Will be getting somemore soon. It also gives people an idea of who their talking to, and if someone sees me at a meet they'll know who I am.

I always wonder who I'm talking to, especailly those who talk big from behind their computer

Just take off your old filter, is the diameter of the popcharger filter big enough to go around the CAI pipe where the old filter came off? If it is put it on there, and use a hose clamp to keep it on. Have you compared the size of the old filter with the popcharger as far as where it attaches to the pipe. I would think it would be an easy swap. But if the popcharger hole is bigger that's where you may run into problems and may need to visit loews. They have PVC couplers that can size down. As in if you have a popcharger with a 4inch opening that needs to fit around a 3inch pipe, you could buy a 4 into 3inch adapter, clamp the popcharger to the adapter, and clamp the adapter to the CAI pipe. I hope this makes since.

If your asking has someone done it I havn't but a filter is a filter and should be easy to swap other than the diameter of the mouth of the filter. If you have any quesitons let me know.

Sorry none taken. I go down to dallas and see a lot of maximas and they all ask me if I'm on the org, so I thought I would make myself famous so people would recognize me on the street and at meets.

Sorry if I sounded like a tough guy I am actually very humble. I notice you like to collect di-casts, heres a deal. I get them at Sams club for 9.99. I almost sh*t a brick when I saw all the same cars they have at sharper image (that sell for upwards of 40-60) for 9.99, that's the only thing I buy at sams now.

The ones I've bought so far are a Viper, Z06, Cobra R, 911, Aston Martin DB-7 Vantage, Murciellogo (I'll never get the spelling right) Their made by the same people who sell them at sharper image and else where and the detail is awesome, you should see the Recaro's in the cobra R. Check it out, it's a great buy. Do you know any good places, I have become a collector myself, I also have a Mclaren GTR, 360 Modena, Mercedes CLK GTR, Ferrari Test., and some old school shaguars. Still looking for a 4th gen max though

Yes I have compared... the JWT fits onto the CAI but it seems like its a little too big. Thats why I was wondering how it would work..??

Just get a moderatly sized hose clamp (not much bigger than the pop) attach it and tighten it down, if you can get it tight with no buldges in the pop opening where air could get around the filter, you'll be perfect. You might throw in a reply about your exprience should anyone else ask, did you do a search?

I own quite a collection of 1/18, well I don't go to SAM's club but I go to Price Club and BJ's (the super market), and see and purchase those die-cast for $9.99. I bought the cobra R recently for $9.99 and the seats are nice. I acutally buy die-cast models that are worth like $50 each (auto art, kyosho) because they are more detailed. I also have a lot of Maisto, UT and Bburago. I'll send you a couple of pics of my collection tonight or tomorrow. I have about 60 die-cast cars. 4th gen maxima's, gotta get it custom made and it will cost you. Sharper image is a rip-off

Yes, I did search and really didnt come up with anything. Street Reeper Im really not following you on the whole hose clamp thing. What does a hose clamp look like, cost, etc. How does it work with a JWT and the end of the CAI tubing. Sorry these things take a while with me.

Here's a hose clamp
http://www.jcshi-torque.co.uk/hitorque.htm

Sorry about the confusion. Just put this on your popcharger, slip the popcharger around the CAI tube, and tighten the hose clamp.
This is kind of what it looks like on the frankentake, you can see the hose clamp at the base of the filter, the screw is facing the other way that you would use to tighten it.
http://www.frankencar.com/product_i/...e/steve_lg.jpg

The hose clamp will be on the outside of the popcharger, as you tighten it it will sqeeze it onto the pipe.

Please let me know if this doesn't make sense, sometimes the simplest things are the hardest to explain.

OK thanks a lot... I am a very visual person so the pictures help. My only question now is this - The hole for the pop is slightly bigger than the CAI. What can I use to connect these two? I realize that the hose clamp keeps them together, but I am looking for something to link them. Earlier you mentioned something... what was that about??

Man I have looked all over the net and have come up with almost nothing, this gives you an idea of how it might be possible.

http://www.builderdepot.com/browse.i...ep=5&pid=27136

The adapter that I was talking about looked like a velocity stack, started big and gets smaller, in fact I used one for my ram air, I wish I had a digi camera I could show you the very adapter.

But again this is all in theory, I don't know that it would work. Take your filter to an ACE hardware or Loews, they should have a three inch pipe somewhere their that would be comparible to your CAI pipe. Either ask how you could fit the filter on a 3inch pipe or have fun (I call it fun because I like fabricating and making new things , ya I know) but if it could work you should be able to figure it out. Also look at various clamps, and try and have fun with new ideas. I'm in Loews and the hard ware store for hours on end sometimes. I'll buy somthing, take it out to the car if it doesn't work, bring it back into exchange it and so on. People know me by name now, but it is really great when you finally get somthing together that works, and have a new mod to share with everyone that you did all by yourself.

Whats wrong with the original filter, and do you not think that you could just clamp the hose clamp tight enough for the filter to work? Keep me posted, and try not to get frustrated, I hope a little of this helps.

Yeah thats helps some, I like your idea of just going there and figuring something out. I might do that. My original filter(monster flow) is fine, nothing wrong at all. I just dont want to get foam sucked up bc I have heard this COULD happen. THanks for all your help!

Cattman sells an adapter to put a JWT filter onto the CAI. There's a guy here who has done it. I can't remember his screen name. But, the general consensus is that you won't see any appreciable gains. The CAI, because of it's long tubing, tends to restrict the airlflow somewhat, when compared to a POP charger. Still, the CAI is better than stock. But the POP charger, with the filter right there on top of the MAF, can't be beat . . in terms of flow.
