Starter Replacement

Hi,

yesterday the starter of my Maxima QX 3.0, 96 automatic refused to work - I could only start the engine when I hit with a hammer or something similar on the starter. So I decided to replace it next week. But how ??? Has anyone of you an idea ? Or a link with instructions ? Do I need special equipment ?

I am from Germany (sorry for my bad English)- and here this car is very rare. So no one could help me.

Thank you very much

Markus

Your english is pretty good actually, better than some people here in America. Heres the directions for removal and installation:
1) disconnect (-) battery terminal
2) remove the air duct
3) disconnect the starter wiring, noting original positions.
4) remove connector brackets.
5) remove the starter-to-engine bolts, and remove the starter from vehicle

INSTALLATION
6) hold starter in position, insert & tighten the attaching bolts. be careful not to overtorque the mounting bolts because it might crack the nose of the starter case
7) install the starter wiring in original positions
8) install the air ducts and connector brackets
9) connect (-) battery terminal
10) start the engine a few times to make sure of proper operations

Hope this helps as you can see, I was trying to type this quick
