sometimes my max won't start unless......

sometimes my max won't start unless......
unless i:
1) turn the key to the second "click"(power on... when you can roll down the windows)
2) step on the brake
3) hold my shift a down and bring to the "R" (reverse) until i feel a resistance. so i don't put the car in reverse.
4) then bring it back up to "P".
5) then my turn the key to start my engine.
something that's gotta do with the clutch i guess...
This happens about once a week.. and it's been happening for the past four months.
any1 else with this problem?
