Starter Not Cranking. Please Help.

I have a 99 Max GLE automatic tranny that has an intermittent starter problem. When I turn the key all the way to start the motor, nothing happens. It only starts when I push the gear selector lever forward and to the right. Why is this happening?

Thanks to all replies. Maxima.org is a great website.

might be a neutral safety switch... if you have a starting problem ,try to start car with the gear selector in neutral and see if starts right up.

WOW! Welcome to the org there pepy. I have just read 3 of your posts and 2 of them seemed to be a bit hostile. Most everyone here is trying to help and very rare is it i see anyone say "take it to the dealer" so I dont know where that came from.
anyway... welcome

You brought up a 6 year old thread just to say that?

What is up with the pointless posts? Just trying to get to 15?

If you do as I've suggested, you'll probably have your car running in a matter of hours. That is, using the newbie thread, and stop posting in a dozen other threads.
