odometer replacement?

i was wondering if there is a way to manually change the mileage on an odometer off of the car. the reason i ask is that i need to replace my cluster, and i found one at the junkyard, but the mileage is different. california law says you can put a new odometer in as long as the mileage is the same, or else zero. then it has to be put on record.

any help would be appreciated! thanks!

if its less milage put it in. as long as you sell it with more miles than you bought it for youll be fine (and save some cash). its only illegal if they catch you. by the way do you know if you car ran and started with out the speedometer plugged in at all.

I believe the moderator locked your previous post because you asked about odometer fraud. Learn the lesson or leave, no one wants a car that had odometer fraud. You can replace your odometer, just make sure that you either have it rolled to match your current reading or record the previous mileage to the new odometer and keep the records. Remember, odometer fraud is ILLEGAL and can be punishible by jail time and A LOT of fees!!!
