Window fell down today, fixed it for free. :)

Well today, I went and stopped my car, went inside for a few hours, and came back out...and found my rear passenger window completely rolled down (it was up before). Of all days, it happened when it was sprinkling rain in the middle of the desert.

I try and roll it up, and no go. So I take apart the door, take off the window guide, window motor and cables and find that the little plastic pieces that are attached to some metal stubs that hold the piece of metal crimped to the window cables, had broken off. It's quite hard to explain, but i got my window working again without spending a dime (all in a light rain mind you).

Anyone ever see that before (window just goes poof and falls down)? It took some mechanical wizardry to reassemble that bad boy (window system), but it went smoothly considering I had no manual or writeups on it in front of me. I had to realign the cables on the the window motor pulley as they had gotten off-track when I attempted to close the window. I also lithium greased everything I could since I was in there already.

Well to all you folks who ever have a problem like that, keep in mind it's fixable. I guess I coulda bought a new window support, but...nah.

I just had the same thing happen. Izzydig, how did you fix the problem? The plastic piece is broken and I believe that only the motor assembly is sold not just the individual parts.

I fixed mine when it happened. There is a little metal thing on the cable the brings the window up and down. I used the uber-glue I've got to glue it to the plastic hodler thing. Not had a problem since. Been about a month and I use it almost every day.

Try calling your nissan parts dealer, you can buy the window regulator w/o having to buy the whole motor $80 in HI and 115 to have it installed by mechanic so appx. $195-maybe less in the states.

Doh! Shoulda used Uber Glue(super glue? lol..don't know what that means).

But yeah, basically the plastic tabs that are on the metal thing pull the window up and down. Those Broke.

Gonna open the door up again this weekend and use some epoxy to keep it from slipping out again. The epoxy should make a bridge between the two metal/plastic tabs that hold the pulley wire in place. I hope I find my digital camera to let you all see what goes on....back to drinking more beer.

those damn plastic pieces definitely were not designed to be exposed to heat. back when the max was my dad's car every single window did that at some point, only he had it fixed at the dealership for like $350 each time... of course he also had them replace burned out bulbs for like $35 in labor for each one
