Our cars are old, PERIOD
Wow, lots of bunched panties in this thread.
I'll wait a few more years before I start looking at domestic cars. The fact is, they have been sub-par compared to foreign cars for a long time. Well, maybe not all foreign cars...
A few recent studies aren't going to send me running to the local Ford dealer.
If they hold out for a while and continue to be reliable as the miles start racking up over the next five years or so, then I will start considering them again. I am in the market for a truck, but I like Dodge trucks for domestics and their tranny problems made me nervous. Now it will take a few years before I trust them again... even though I know they changed the trannies.
Anyway, my 98 Max has 170,000 miles on her ticker. No mechanical failures to date. 80 miles round trip to work every day and she still gets 25MPG doing 80MPH both ways.
Routine maintenance and that is it. Fires up every time with a quick twist of the key.
I do need those little plastic things that the doors slide on though. My rear doors are hard to open and close now... that kind of stuff is where she shows her age every now and then.
