Ignition signal circuit code 0201.....and CEL flashing while driving
What is the code 0201, a Ignition Signal Circuit?? What does that mean and what kind of fix?? Also the car felt really sluggish today and did not have umph at times, but others it did. I needed to make a quick entrance to the highway this morning so I put the car in 2nd and punched it......and the car kinda shook and slugged on up to speed and from then on I have been babying it till I could check for codes. Well, bout 5 seconds after I did that 2nd gear punch, the CEL light would flash on me, I tried to count but I couldnt.
What do you think is wrong with my car? I have a $100 deductable so if its more then $100 in stuff Ill take it in, but is there anything I can do to fix it???
It has shook at idle a few times in the last week and the CEL was on, but that I thought was for my O2 that I recently put in, thinking it would go off on its own after my last reset, but apparently it came on for this. The car gets the shakes and gargles at idle but its like a bad tank of gas type of deal (i did recently fill up at a different station but it was the the same grade and brand gas).
Help??
Car has 50,780 miles on it, 99.5 SE 5spd with mods below

0201
Diagnostic Trouble Code 0201 indicates a problem with the ignition coil and power transistor. The ignition signal from the Engine Control Module is sent to and amplified by the power transistor. The power transistor turns on and off the ignition coil primary circuit. This on-off operation induces the proper high voltage in the coil secondary circuit.
The malfunction is detected when the ignition signal in the primary circuit is not entered during engine cranking or running.
The items to check include
- Harness or connectors (the ignition primary circuit is open or shorted.)
- Power transistor unit built into ignition coil
- Condenser
- Crankshaft Position Sensor (REF)
- Crankshaft Position Sensor (REF) circuit
A misfire on any individual cylinder should set a code, and a problem with the CPS should also set a code.
I would have expected to see DTC 0201 along with one of the following DTCs.
0407 - Crankshaft Position Sensor (REF)
0608 - Cylinder 1 misfire
0607 - Cylinder 2 misfire
0606 - Cylinder 3 misfire
0605 - Cylinder 4 misfire
0604 - Cylinder 5 misfire
0603 - Cylinder 6 misfire
You didn't get one of these "companion" DTCs, and that is puzzling. Maybe one of them will show up in the next few days.

That and I will go to my friends dads place Thursday and have him hook up his OBDII tool. Is it safe to drive for now at least 100 miles in the next 2 days???
Also, where do I go about checking the first couple things you list to check?? Or you suggest after running the OBDII scan and getting this code and another to just take it to the dealer for my $100 deductable??
