How many of you max owners have to replace the ignition coils?
Even though I have a 99, I still signed this petition for whatever worth that will be in the long run for Nissan Max owners...

I only had to change the #2 coil, at just over 50K 3 months ago. Not enough dinero to change all 6 at the same time.
I know they won't last forever, but they oughta last at least more than 50K.

HAHA funny timing for me to see this post because i just replaced my #2 coil this morning on my 75k '99, it started misfiring on the #2 cylinder and threw a cel along with a very rough unbalanced feeling, sure nuff no spark was being delivered and the coil was the culprit, $60-70 at auto parts stores but nobody had one in stock and i had to get to class on time so $108 at Baron Nissan
I had the same problem as "jgrafe." I replaced three coils and installed NGK sparks and replaced the knock sensor. My max ran good for a few months, but then my max started to have hesitations/misfires again. I changed the plugs, again, but with Bosch, it made it worse. So I went back to the NGKs, and the hesitation is gone. but when I'm stopped at a light, the engine sometimes misfires. any ideas why?
Oops, I shoulda read this thread before starting a new one

202k miles, just got a new one. I'll replace them as they die out.
Interesting to note that the local dealership keeps these in stock... sounds like a pretty common thing.

My 95 Maxima has 171,000 miles, and the coils, HANSHIN, are still good.
BTW, when it is time to replace the coil, which brand should I buy, HANSHIN or MITSUBISHI? Can you also explain why you recommend that brand and not the other. Thanks.

?
Thanks, but it makes me nervous though! Cars that go forever w/o problems are the ones that die altogether, all at once!
