if you havent noticed, i own 2 3rd gen's, not a 4th gen, therefore i wouldnt venture into here and ask a mileage question for kicks. i'm just trying to get your opinions of high mileage 4th gens before i buy one. its not something that shows up in the faq's

thansk everyone else with info

well i suggest you get a 99 or 98 if you can. if you can even get a 99 se-l. and are you going to look for a 5 speed? alot of people have high milease and nothing major to worry about just reagular maintance and stuff like that. hope it helps.

Can't you find one that year with lower mileage? This vehicle equates to 20,000 miles per year which is on the high side. At the other extreme, as mentioned above, is my 95 SE with 56,700 miles on it. Personally I wouldn't buy a 98 with more than 80,000 - 90,000 miles on it, unless it was an absolute steal. I'm not suggesting that there might be something wrong with the vehicle, but its not the only Maxima for sale in the state of New York.

I have 88k on my '99 SE, it had 73k when I bought it in June 2004. I'm not eager to be racking up the miles, it just seems to happen naturally in this car haha.

I just bought a max with 139,000. Now with 143,000 runs very good. But i think my water pump is bad, its cheap to fix though.

I bought my 99 Max GLE at 58000 for $7000. Great deal for me. It was an auto. Currently 62000.

173k and the engine is still strong. just the sensors need replacement. everything else is falling apart but the engine is great. I think you'll find 4th gens with high mileage generally, and thats ok if regular maintenance has been done. (oil, belts, etc)
