a resonator doesnt take away any horsepower, it only quiets down the tone of the exhaust and makes it sound less raspy..but reading from motorvate, seems like the b-pipe does have good gains THROUGHOUT the rev band...not just peak or down low..

yep....the raspiness isnt worth it to me though...it seems a lil embarrassing tobe driving an i30 around with a raspy sound...the deep musclely grumble is sexy though...well arent there resonated b-pipes available?

That's what we're talking about - the Budget b-pipe with the resonator. I still don't know whether you can achieve the same whp with it as the JPG without the resonator dynoed in the motorvate.ca attachment above.

You can always do what I did with my SP2 and have a shop weld a second resonator. No power loss, quieter car, deeper tone at WOT

I live in Newburyport, go to St. John's Prep and have quite a few friends who live in Reading. Overall, I don't have many mods done to my car, but it's interesting to see that there are people like you nearby. It was just Sunday night and I was at my friend's gradation party and saw a 4th Gen with a bunch of conversions.

when i was NA i hit 200 whp and i hardely had 'all the bolt-ons' like everyone is stating that you need. bijan said it best... if you do it right, with the right combo 200 is obtainable without all the unecessary stuff.

SP2 only had one "short" resonator. It's still mostly b-pipe; lol

just with the 00VI, you can gain back all the hp you lost after 5.5K rpm from the USIM, i would say a y-pipe, intake, ecu, 00VI, you can be really close or even at 200 whp....who said you couldnt get 200 whp with "bolt-ons"

So if close to 200 hp, a B-pipe should put one over the top I would think.

Most resonators are Perforted core so I don;t think it is possible to lose power with one.

Also, how many auto's have hit 200? None, correct? I might be the first one--find out at Maxus05

Now that's a different thread my friend ... I don't think it's ever been done w/o F/I or a 3.5L ... Typically the highest are in the 180-185 arena ... Most conver to 5spd before getting there ad in doing so break the 200whp barrier with just the 5spd "mod".

LOL^^^^^ good luck doing that without going FI, or Nitrous. Highest auto dyno i've seen has been 180 hp/190 tq, and that was with everything you could possibly do. Only thing was he had a MEVI, with the 00VI, maybe could have reached 200 tq, but not 200 hp.

I have: ECU, full exhaust from headers back, intake, 00VI and I don't think I'm near 200hp.
