~~hid Help Please!

hey guys,

does this look correct? i plugged everything in, but the hids dont turn on. i even tried switching the black wire to the other side, but still nothing. i did the 9007 conversion, so do i need to do anything else? i bought the helios kit and it comes with two fuses, do i need to use it? any help would be appreciated. Thanks

YES, you NEED the fuse. Ask me how I know

Also, the 9007 may factor into it. I've never done the 9007 conversion, but do you switch the low beam wire around at all? If so, the wiring for the ballast is probably set up so that because of your conversion, it's not getting the signal to turn on.

well for the headlights there are fuses in the stock wiring. Either inside the engine bay, or inside the cabin. Check all of those. If any are blown, replace. They shouldnt blow from this kit however (unless you did something while installing it) because it doesnt draw enough power from the stock harness to blow it. There look to be inline fuse holders between the igniter and the bulb on that harness. Are those fuses in place?

Ever heard of a fusebox? Like the little plastic thing that houses all the car's fuses? One in the engine bay and one underneath the steering wheel?

You have the fuse supplied because HID kits can draw up to 75W for the first two minute, which could and have fried harnesses on cars as well as blow the fuse. Thus, the supplied fuse is either for replacement or backup. Odd thing is, usually they supply a 20A fuse

He said the one they supplied is 15A. Don't you think that if his regular lights still work he didn't blow a fuse?

I've been troubleshooting with this guy over AIM and I don't have any more suggestions for him :\

Best Regadrs,
the fuses in my car are already 15A. could this possibly be a defective kit?

there is no glare, most of the time when you take pictures with some camera you cant take it without it cause the light is very bright. IF you want to take a picture without glare you need a pro camera.

Maximabest, I did not want to say this at first, but I feel like I should for the HID n00bies. An HID kit in a halogen housing WILL glare, saying it won't glare is blatantly false and can be proven false.

well there is a lot of comments there about it, also test, proofs etc. Its like someone says "yes" and others "no", its very difficult to have one opinion. If thats your point its ok, everyone can says it but you can put a d2r on the car and the results will be the same.

Best Regards,

So I was right then about the 9007 conversion being the problem...

But you told me the kit was made for 9007, which is why I couldn't figure out what the problem was.

Anyway, glad to see you got them working. Now go and make yourself a homemade glare shield
