is phantom grip worth it for $350??? or should i get Quaife ATB

With LSDs you usually get what you pay for. If there's a diff out there for $350 then it's probably a good value, but yes the Quaife/torsen diff will be significantly better, especially around corners. Whether or not it's 4 times better... well, depends on how much you value money. It will never wear out, will significantly improve handling and instantly bias the torque, whereas a viscous LSD will take awhile to firm up and grip, won't improve handling all that much (but it will improve acceleration out of corners) and has a possibility of being.. crap, since it seems like they're a bit of a noname company. A clutch pack LSD also has its share of disadvantages, especially for FWD cars, which is why the phantom grip is most likely viscous.

 

I have the Phantom Grip LSD... havent had any issues.. I got it for drag racing..

 

Heard that Quaife doesn't make lsd for maximas anymore, is that true???

Get an I30 VLSD and drivers' side axle to make it work, they no longer make the quaife you can only get it used.

 

The phantom grip is not a viscous, it works by basically using 4 strong springs between two plates that press outwards against the spider gears in your stock diff, making it more difficult for the spider gears (and in turn the axles) to spin independently of eachother (the limited slip effect). It's worth about what you pay for it, or less. The phantom grip will damage your spider gears and leave metal shavings in your transmission if you still get 1 wheel spinning with it installed. when both wheels are spinning at same rate though, it does no damage. I have not driven a car with a phantom grip installed so I don't know how well it actually works first-hand, though I have taken transmissions with them apart, and I have installed them in a couple transmissions.

 

So it's basically like a clutch pack except without the clutch? FTL... find a freakin Quaife or a VLSD.
