I have a 95 Maxima with a heater problem. Sometimes the blower motor doesn't turn on. It is a very random problem. I haven't check the fuses yet but I will later today. Maybe a loose fuse???

i have a 99 max. wont start. recently replaced the starter, alternator, and ignition switch. whiel it was running i took it to a mechanic and discovered codes for erg valvue and o2 sensor. the car has been starting rough for all of the winter season, producing a screeching sound when it starts.when i attempt to start it all i hear is a clicking sound. it doesnt strain to start or even make an attempt to start. the battery doesnt appear to be dead since all the lights come on whenI turn the key. I think the problem would be the ERG valuve that isnt allowing the airflow to the engine.

any suggestions?

If all you hear is a clicking sound it wouldnt be the egr valve. Is it NOT turning over?

If it turns on when you go over bumps, then its the blower motor seizing up. Get it replaced. If its only working on high speed, then its the blower resistor which is located right next to blower motor. Get it replaced.

Look at your security light. If it is flashing or on steady when starting, then start looking for a tow truck to the stealership to have your keys reprogrammed.

Mine would do that with the air conditioning. The motor is located just under the glove box on the right wide of the glove box. Try tapping it lightly with a hammer or screwdriver and see if that starts it up. Mine does it every time. Just have to lean over and give it a knock. Eventually i'll get around to replacing it. Hope that helps.

Hey, I just bought a 1998 Maxima with 190k miles on it recently. I've been having trouble with my car taking extra long to start after it has been sitting for a while. Its especially bad in the cold mornings, and it sometimes causes my trip counter to reset on its own. I'm unsure if its a battery problem or fuel pressure related...I was hoping one of you guys would be able to help me out with some guidance as I am not great with cars.

If your trip CPU is resetting I'm fairly confident it's something to do with your battery.

Key FOB programming

I bought a brand new key fob from ebay because we didn't have one with the 95 Max we got. I cant program it. Here's what I'm doing... Get in and lock all doors. Insert/remove key 6 times in less than 10 seconds, the hazards flash twice after about the 4th key insertion. Put the key back in and turn it to ACC and press the lock button on the FOB. Nothing. I took the battery out of the FOB and it reads 3 volts and the tabs that contact the battery look good. What is wrong?

The manual said to use ATF (Dexron III) only. Any other fluid will damage seals within the rack and pinion.

After the hazard lights flash, you suppose to press any one button on the remote and wait for the hazards to flash again and then continue with the rest of the process you did.

I smacked it with a flashlight and it came on. It looks easy to change.

That didn't work either. I know the alarm works because it was stuck on one day.

If this pic is what you are referring to, then its just a plastic covering.

Hey guys... new here and have an interesting problem...

Ive got a 95 Maxima that wont crank....

Now... the kicker is its not getting power to the ign. signal line at the starter. Put the key in the "on" position and try to jump the starter, the engine will crank however it wont fire because its not getting fuel. If you jump the starter and use a little starting fluid, it will start and run for a few seconds then die.

Have swapped around every relay under the hood to no avail. Replaced the inhibitor relay since wiring diagrams show the ign. hot lead running through it first and still nothing.

Everything still works in the car however... all the dash lights come on, etc... Battery is fairly new and tests good. After spending several hours tracing wiring and checking voltages, I broke down and took it to a shop. A week later, they still couldnt find anything and didnt charge me for the time they spent trying to diagnose it.

Now... my only idea is that either I'm overlooking a relay somewhere that would provide power to the starter and fuel pump... or the ign. switch is shot which doesnt make sence considering everything else is still getting power... And I think I checked power coming off the switch but I may be wrong... Ive checked too much crap to remember.

Also, when you turn the key to the "start" position, you can here the relays for the anti theft system and the inhibitor relay are clicking but the starter still isnt getting power. If you put the car in anything but park or neutral, the relays wont click either which leads me to believe its not in the ign. switch or np safety switch...

This problem started about a year ago and would come and go... could sometimes cycle the key a few times and get it to work... other times could just wait a little while and it would start fine... Now it wont.

Anyways.. any ideas guys??

Thanks
-Chris

It looks like an OEM keyfob but it looks fake. What instructions did they include on it?

I am suspecting that your fuel pump is the issue here. Check fuel pump fuse under steering wheel. If not, turn key to ON position and listen to hear if the fuel pump is making any noise.

Would anything in the fuel pump circuit keep the car from cranking or break the signal from the ignition to the starter? The starter isnt getting any power on the signal lead when the key is in the "start" posistion... However you can jump the starter lead off the main power cable and it will crank.

-Chris

The instructions that came with the keyfob are the same as alldata. I really don't think it's a fake. It has a real and charged battery in it. I'll give the company a call tomorrow and see what they say.

Although I am not a newbie, I dont have enough posts to start a thread and need help on wheel bearings.

My Max has KYB EGR struts all aroung and 17 inch rims (not too big) but I have gone through wheel bearings rather quickly and want to know if there are performance sets out there to handle the additional suspension/tire upgrades or if there are recommendations on something stock that is better than cheap bearings out of china.

THanks for your help out there.

BTW I did a search and could not find anything to help.

Maybe the bearings were already bad. What springs u runnnin. KYB-GR2s are usually good with no problems, so ive read.

does anyone have any expeiriance with electronic rust control moduals? mainly i am wondering if they work on cars that have rust starting on them. living in saint john my car is exposed to enough salt water to render my fluid film undercoating nearly useless after 3 months. any information would be greatly apreciated.

Hey, I'm new here and still learning to navigate here. A friend of mine just bought an 1997 Infinity i30 and was wondering where she could buy a back floor mat. A long one like the factory mat because the previous owners totally destroyed the factory mats in the car. I've gotten the car detailed and is looking pristine. Now she just needs the back floor mat. I went to Pep boys, Advanced Auto Parts, and Auto Zone, but they just have generic ones. Thanks in advance guys and hope I'm posting within the guidelines.

Thanks for this option as I have searched to best of my ability (I'm just a girl! =) and still am trying to figure out my 96 Maxima Sunroof Issue. It will vent up/down but won't open/close. I tried to do the "reset" by holding down the Vent Down button 5 seconds...that didn't work.
Questions: 1) are there fuses for the 2 operations of the sunroof? If so, where are they located?
2) are there 2 motors for the 2 operations fo the sunroof? Motor obviously is working for vent up/down, but when I slide Open/Close switch, I hear nothing...
Thanks in advance =) for any help!

I pulled my engine apart (UIM, etc. off) to change my rear valve cover gasket and I had a piece of hose break off and fall into my engine where the UIM was. The hose was pretty hard since it was old and the piece is probably the size of half a penny.

(Live and learn. I've since started blocking open parts on the engine to prevent foreign objects from falling in.)

I've tried everything to fish it out and it's just not happening without pulling the engine completely apart.

Do I have to pull the engine apart or will it be okay to start the car with small debris in it?

Thank you in advance to anyone who can help move my project along again.

I own a 95 Maxima, and recently my IAT sensor code came up, so i have been researching on fixing it. but all the IAT sensors for my car are not the sensor in the car, the sensor i found that looks like mine is in a Nissan Truck and says it will not fit in my car ( but it looks like the same d*** thing!)
W0133-1611761- thats the part number of what mine looks like.. Any advice?

You need a steering wheel puller to get it off. Also, you will have to disconnect and remove the airbag to gain access to the nut holding the steering wheel in place.

There is only one motor in the sunroof as far as I know and if one of the switches is working, it shows that it is getting power. I would say replace the switch to open and close and see what happens.

Remove the LIM to get the hose out. That piece will give you some misfire problems and will foul your plug and cylinder.

If its the wring IAT, buy the correct one and put it in place. It should not hurt and cure your problem.

Hey Guys, another noob here. A friend of mine had an 08 s altima recently. One of the things that i really liked about the car was that lip spoiler. It completed the look if u know wut im saying. I was wondering though, if that same style spoiler would fit on a 4th gen max or for that matter even look good. If any one has any ideas, shoot em at me. I also think the 7th gen max spoilers would like pretty nice, being that there pretty much the same design as the altimas. Opinions would be much appreciated guys. THNX

Thanks for the advice, was REALLY hoping I wouldn't have to do that because that's uncharted territory for me. Is there any kind of guide, etc. for LIM removal? I followed the one for the upper but can't find the LIM guide and don't feel comfortable enough to start it without one. So there's no way the engine would be able to "work through" a piece like that or anything? Was really hoping to put the car back together today but having to disassemble the LIM is going to add several days. Thanks again. ~UNdefy

I've since started blocking open parts on the engine to prevent foreign objects from falling in.) I've tried everything to fish it out and it's just not happening without pulling the engine completely apart. Do I have to pull the engine apart or will it be okay to start the car with small debris in it? Thank you in advance to anyone who can help move my project along again. ~UNdefy Remove the LIM to get the hose out. That piece will give you some misfire problems and will foul your plug and cylinder.

I am not sure which one is the right one or not, it shows that my IAT sensor should look completely different from the one in the car, wasnt sure if i should go with the one that looks like mine or idk..
