According to my Haynes Manual all you have to do it remove the nut and the mount under it. Then while holding onto the antenna have some one operate the switch with the radio on and it should back right out. Installing would be the reverse.

i have a remote controlled mp3 deck and i tried doing that cause i read it in the FSM, nothing , the antenna moved and i tried pulling it out, but it never came out.

its ok, i dealts with it by swapping the whole motor, it actually worked out pretty good because the new motor was much quieter than my old one was.

Once you took out the top nut, just pull the antenna whip out. There is a nylon tail underneath the metal whip that has cogs that engage the gears in the motor. Pretty easy to do.

If the nylon whip breaks and leave a tail in the motor housing, then you have to take the motor housing apart to get that out. The entire antenna from a dealer cost about $200. The slanted cast metal piece is different between Max and I30. I had to reuse that piece on my new antenna.
