shiftronic = being able to shift an auto like a stick shift. and its not just using 1,2 and D but u have real gears that u can play with. the one thing that confuses me is that if u do have shiftronic, will u have 4 or 5 gears!? any ideas?

You will have five gears. The transmission has four forward speeds and one reverse.

thanks daniel, i was referring to the 4/5 forwards, i guess thats just 4. but wuts the point of having 4 speed "manual transmission", somehow it just seems a waste.

Shiftronic puts the driver in complete control. Instead of allowing the Transmission Control Unit decide which is the right gear at any moment, you get to make that decision.

Some car makes have this feature as standard equipment on their automatic transmissions. The idea is to give the driver the best of both worlds: full control when you want it, and fully automatic shifting when you are feeling lazy. I'm not familiar with the Level Ten Shiftronic kit. I presume it works the same way.

agreed, but the loss of that fifth forward gear is quite a loss if a person wants a manual car. i guess thats something they are going to have to live with.

I drove the 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse with the shiftronic, or whatever they call it. I hated it (compared to a manual...it would be better than an auto). I don't know if this one's the same, but it would drive like an automatic unless I put it in manual mode. It would then upshift only when I told it to (after a second delay...that was annoying). It would downshift on its own as I slowed down. The delay and no clutch meant that the added control over an automatic was there, but minor.

That depends on your definition of "dual tranny". It is only one transmission, not two. The "duality" lies in having two control modes ...
1) Fully automatic
2) You shift the gears but have no clutch pedal

Sorry about the caps

Anyways, it is from level ten. It has 4 forward gears and one reverse gear. It plugs into the trans module and allows the driver to control its operation fully. You can drive the car as an auto or as an stick without a clutch. if your interested, you know how to reach me.

I have driven a couple of these shiftronic cars, personally I think they only one that comes remotely close in a car that most of might actually be able to afford is the Lincoln LS one. The thing I liked is, that when you stopped at a light, it would remain in the gear you left it in and not reset to 1st as some other do. On the one from Level10, is it a button system or a stick??

Buttons..

It uses buttons to shift from gears to gear. it stays in the gear you put it in until you change it. it will not change gears on its own. you up shift and down shift yourself.
