i'm not a 5-spd but i can tell you i have a huge problem running my 100shot and losing traction. like as soon as i turned it on, through the shift into second and then a little into second. i'm looking for some drag tires right now.

I only have a 50 shot and if I floor it in second, when it hits the window (3400 rpms) SOMETIMES....it will break the tires loose for a sec...and then grip. In first, when the NOS kicks on at 3400 if I already have traction..it will break them loose all the way through first..and then I get a mad rip into second with my ACT clutch.

about the window switch, don't you have to send it out to MSD to get is modified for our cars or something. i thought i heard that. how much is it anyway and what's involved in the install.

Well i am running a 50 shot in a auto w/ vb mod. I dont have any traction problems. It likes to scratch into 2nd if i spray through but i ahve a window switch set @ 6k rpms.

I have the MSD as well as 1MAX2NV. It cost about $30 to mod it. The unit itself is only $75-80. I got mine modded for free. (Long story).

If you have traction problems going into 2nd gear and 3rd gear, you are too aggressive with your clutch engagement on the upshifts...

Apart from the launch, a decent set of tires should control any wheel spin running up through first gear. You should not need "drag" tires.

And besides, where are you transferring those mechanical stresses once you install "drag tires" and "heavy duty" clutches?

My roommate has a new VW Passat 1.8Liter turbo. Even if I launch it gently and gradually increase to half throttle once the revs climb, the tires will start spinning even on dry road -- he has some really weak Michelen "long life comfort crusier low grip" tires as OEM.

When I get my nitrous setup, if I run into traction problems I wanted to run a progressive nitrous control, I dont think Ive seen anyone running one on a Max yet.

I believe there is a reliablilty issue with the nitrous solenoids in the Zex kit.

The Venom setup is fully programmable via PC. Yet it's also major $$. But it would be very cool.

You can get the window switch either from www.jegs.com or www.summitracing.com

There are 2 ways, either go for the $175 NOS window switch or go for teh $75 MSD window switch.

The MSD will have to be sent to MSD Electronics in El Paso, TX for 1 cylinder app modification. THe mod costs about $30-35. Im not sure b/c they modded mine for free due to a mix up. As of what i know, only me and Tony aka 1MAX2NV use the MSD. sx7r (Thomas) uses teh NOS switch, Mardi (Matt) uses a custom built one.

so your saying i should burn the clutch and that my tires suck ? if granny launch and give it full throttle once i start moving ill light up my yoko's i did alot of research before buying these treads and decided that an 8.3 inch tread width tire on a 6.5 inch rim would be awesome. they grip awesome in the wet and especially on wet corners. i really am starting to think that im driving too aggrivesly

I have the MSD switch and I love it. 35 bucks to modify it.

What about the Mallory Window Switch? Does anyone know if it works, or if it has to be modified. Here is the link

i'm gonna guess that it has to be modified because the MSD one has to be modified for 1cyclinder applications because of the way out ignition works. if it doesn't though, that's a sweet deal, 84 bucks for a window switch. order me one.

I looked into the Mallory as well. I was told it wouldnt work. Talk to Tony aka 1MAX2NV. He can explain this or at least have some kind of answer.

I have polyurethane engine mounts, a JWT Stage II Clutch, and a Cattman/Quaife ATB Differential ordered, all of which will ship soon. I'll have my NOS 70-shot kit installed with them. I don't think I'll be slipping much, but as far as my tranny is concerned, my fingers are crossed. (Your prayers are welcome!)

I appreciate the info on the MSD window switch. Do any of y'all recommend a lightweight aluminum flywheel with this set-up? Please advise. Thank you.
