What is this on the left side halfshaft between the inner and outer joints?

I don't get how this is possible. Is this for an Auto or Manual trans??

I have an Auto and I pulled both my halfshafts out with no or very little loss of trans fluid.

Manual...but I figured it happened for both....maybe all of us that had that happen all had manuals...it's been 6 months since I changed mine, so I don't remember all the variations.

I find it depends on the angle of the car. If you only lifted the front end the oil is more toward the back of the tranny and it will pour out some. If the car is lifted level it may not pour out at all.

I thought you were one of the guys that thought your axle was clicked in...only to have it come out and leak MT-90 everywhere on the road?

While driving it's a different story though, even on an MT oil is getting pumped around everywhere. Yeah the auto's don't leak oil out when you pull the axle even if you have just the front jacked up. wierd I know.
