TPS

I took it off and when I put it back on it gives me a high idle.
I tried adjusting it a few times and got it lower, but can't get it lower than 1000 rpms.
btw, I also cleaned the tb, mani, egr.

sometimes when you clean the TB, that can bring up the idle too, it might take a while to lower itself. when you put the tps back, did you get it as close to 500 ohms as possible? resistance reading should be 500 idle, 4,000 WOT.

Just noticed you cleaned the UIM and egr tube, did you remove the manifold to do that? if so, check for vac leaks both at the UIM to LIM junction and where the EGR guide tube connects. spray carb cleaner in the general area and see if your idle goes up. if it does, you have a vac leak somewhere

yea, that too. heat will effect the resistance. make sure the engine is warm when you adjust the tps.

Follow the procedure in the Chiltons manual to adjust the TPS.
You will need a ohm/volt meter to set that sensor up correctly.

Why did you take the TPS off in the first place? Just to clean the TB?

follow the Chiltons and make sure to use a VOM.

p.s. nice bike mate!

When i took everything apart to do my cleaning i took the tps off like a dumbass. When i put it back on i didn't calibrate it the first time. I drove w/it for about 2 weeks and my car was constantly downshifting. PITA!!! So i reajusted it. It got really high idle when i was moving the tps around and even after i had secured it in again.

If that's what you were referring to.. it goes away. Mine's been golden for about a month now.

K, I adjusted the tps as much as I could and the idle went down to about 900rpms and then I adjusted the little screw on the TB and it went down to about 600rpms.
Let's hope it stays this way.
Thanks guys.
