i hate my car
#41
well i woke up today and was on my way to school, so i went outside started my car up and let warm up for about 25mins then got back in it to leave and i put the car in "R" and it does nothing but revs up to 2.5k and thats it then i put the car in "N" and it goes forward, then i put the car in "D" and it goes forward but it seems that the passenger side tire is spinnng in the dirt while the other isnt.. Now was wrong with my car? this is too much i gotta get 2 jobs this summer..and my car has 211,000 miles on it and plus i already replaced the tranny in nov. 06.
no 25min is to long no matter what your give it like 5 min in the winter time that is it...think 25 min every day 7 days a week 4 weeks a month 12 months a year that is about 8500 mins or 140 hours your car is running that is doesnt need to be!

25-30 mins idle???? WTF??!
To those that say its bad for the engine are WRONG.
Most like TRANNY damage.
In the event of warming up the engine for 25-30 mins, the engine warms up to operating temperature, but guess what? THE TRANNY IS STILL ICE COLD So what happens? You hop in the car, reverse out and hammer the gas since the engine is warm and smooth running. Think about the power of a warm engine vs. a cold transmission. Did you know that extreme stress is going on inside that cold transmission? Maybe thats why its shot.
The correct way on a cold morning is to start up.. wait TWO MINUTES. Then leave. From P to R, shift slowly and WAIT for it to engage (It will be slow due to cold). Then from R to D, ocne again, shift SLOWLY and WAIT for it to engage. Then accelerate slowly, keeping RPMS BELOW 3K. Once temp gauge gets out of negative C region and into the actual H-C gauge area, then engine and transmission are warming up in sync.
