Bad missfire only below 2000 RPM? [Solved]

96 SE/5spd Black, CEL P0302 Cylinder #2 Miss fire only below 2000 RPMs

I'll be honest, I searched a little bit, not too much, I haven't checked spark plugs yet, I'm going out to do an injector sound test after I post this.

I've read the flashing check engine light means cylinder misfire, which supports my p0302 cylinder #2 miss fire code I get.

below 2000 RPM's only SOME OF THE TIME is the missfire like a completely missing cylinder, other times it acts like a low compression cylinder. over 2000 RPMs it runs smooth and true though, which is what confuses me.

Now I read on the forums that it would probably be a clogged injector?

My dad said it might have something to do with the exhaust leak I have on the EGR tube. Can anyone Support or Deny that?

I've also read that the 99 coils go bad, but they say the 96's are rock solid. I just wanted to eliminate them. can anyone support or deny that they can't fail intermittently? I would think they would go and never come back.

I've had the car about 4 months, I believe the previous owner only used regular, I only use super (I've gotten better gas miliage with super, had a knock sensor problems when I got it)

Fuel filters been replaces, knock sensors been replaced, EGR-C control solenoids been replaced, evap vent control valve been replaced. water pump as well.

I know they shouldn't have anything to do with the current problem, just giving a little history.

I've never had to deal with a clogged injector before so I'm not sure sure how it acts. could it really be a clogged injector? is there anything else it could be? I'm a bit short on cash and I'm looking for the cheapest, most direct route to fix the problem.

Would a high pressure injector cleaning fix it? I'm not talking about the bottled crap, I'm talking about the professional snappon type injector cleaning.

I know I should've actually done some testing first, but it's a bit hard for me because I'm either at work, at school, or driving the 50 miles in between to get to either one of those places. and I don't have any work lights to work at 1AM when I get home from work so.

Check the coils first, as those are most prone to make your car misfire.

I had this problem (though nowhere near this severe) when one of my coils wasn't tight because it wasn't making very good contact sometimes.

It was a coil pack, I replaced the coil pack and it got a lot better, although the car still doesn't feel right. I think at 200,000 miles, I should replace them all.

It's still running ruff, so I'm going to give it a tune up (spark plugs, etc.) and if it's not any better I'm going to replace the coils.
