2 funny kills this weekend

Ok, Friday night, around 6:30pm, I was on a main road (4 lanes, but traffic lights) and I was stuck at a red light. Next to me pulls up a 90-93 Mustang with racing decals (MSD, etc.). He procedes to let the car roll back and step on the gas and stop and roll back, etc, trying to bait me. (My indiglo gauges cause people to instantly try to race me, does this happen with everyone with indiglo's?) Anyway, I switched on the nitrous and when the light turned green, he smoked his tires and I took off. I hit 95ish, looked back and saw small headlights that were his. He was 3-5 car lenghts back (sometimes hard to judge at night).

Later on that night I went to a late movie, 11:30pm showing and when I came out a Pontiac Sunfire was rev'n his engine. The funny thing was that he had a high flow mufler, but he actually did both. As some of you may know, the sport edition of the Sunfire has 2 exhaust tips, however ONLY 1 WORKS, the other is just for show. I pulled up next to the kid and asked if he wanted to race. He laughed and said ok. We pulled up to the nearest light and when it turned green we were off. I was so far ahead of him by the next light I decided to stop in the middle of the road and wait for him to catch up (we were the only 2 on the road so I wasn't worried about getting into an accident). He finally did and at the next light he said "ohh, you got a jump start at that light, it wasn't fair" I said ok, I will let you get 1 car lenght start before I go, just to be REAL fair. Now I was ****ed and flipped on the Nitrous once again. Light turns green and well, lets say I left him in a different zip code. What a night!

great story. How often do you use your NOS? Can I talk to you some about it?

I just got it installed 2 weeks ago. I went through 2 bottles already. I love it.

Oh so you haven't really used it enough to ruin your engine yet? I know people say you won't if you do it correctly...but doesn't it age your engine quicker?

Cyrus

There should be a sticky on the top of the forum about "NOS for the masses" or something like that, I highly recommend you read it if you are considering nitrous, or even if you aren't, it's still good to know. Install prices vary from $150-400 depending how large the boost is and your relationship with the shop owner. Most people go for the dry NOS kit because of the Maxima's long intake runners. A 50~65 shot is most common and does NOT require any changes in the car other than gauges, etc. Anything over a 75 shot and it is recommended that you switch to colder plugs and an upgraded fuel pump.

Refills are generally $1-3 per LB. Most Max owners have the 10LB bottle so count on $10-30 per refill. If you have an auto consider getting the VB mod before NOS or a S/C. Also, if you are a lazy or unsophisticated driver take a look at the JWT NOS kit. It has an upgraded ECU, NOS module and all the hardware minus the bottle, heater, etc. Basically it works like this:
as soon as you floor it the car switches to the NOS module and pumps more fuel in (running NOS causes the a/f mixture to be much leaner) as it sprays.

This is likely the safest NOS install, but it is not idiot proof because there will always be those people who floor it pulling out and leave the bottom of their engines in the driveway.

As you can tell I'm really glazing over some stuff, so go read the sticky for your own good.

As always if I am talking out of my a$$ let me know.

Thanks for the info though, I'm getting more comfortable with the idea of NOS again.

I have never heard of NOS fills at a $1 a pound. I get it around 2.50-3.5 a pound ($25-$35 a fill). A 10 lb bottle lasts 4 mins of spray.

Install cost me $1,500, but I had it done very professionally with a custom install (no a-pillars). Min. install is $150.

Why use nos against a sunfire? Seems like a waste to me.

I wanted to totally destroy him, which I did, it was for fun. The bottle was almost empty anyway.

Hey, I got indiglo's too. Nobody seem to want to race me though. Hm...maybe the gauges on the a-pillar gave me away.
