anyone with conzult or similar here?

i got a cable just like the conzult from blazt.biz, but from someone else and i have scanning\logging software with it - which i can share. everything works as a scan tool but when i start the engine i lose connection with the ecu so i can't do real time logging. anyone have anything on that? i'm wondering if the cable's bad

Is it just while starting? That's expected.

Have you tried connecting the cable (or starting up the software) with the engine already running?

yeah and with no luck. i've read that some ecu models don't let you use a scantool while running but i don't remember if it was about 95 or what. i've also tried two different softwares...i can't remember if a regular scantool works while the engine's running or does it have to be off with the key in "on" position only

The A32 ECU will allow scanning with the engine running with no problem (yes, this includes the '95).

still not working...i thought it might be the chip board or the cable that came with it but the guy i got it from told me to try and use a different power and ground sources. i'm also thinking that maybe the issue lies in the serial 2 usb cable but i'll have to try to find out.

anyways - the fsm and 3 separate nissan techs told me that the ddl connector has 5 leads - tx, rx, clock, power and ground. i have a 6th one in spot #4. i bet i'm not the only one but maybe someone knows wtf it's for? the techs told me it probably doesn't do anything, which shows how good montana dealership mechanics are...

its probably the serial to usb converter...not all of them work.. if its for simple rs232 communication then they are ok.. but i noticed that when u try to get more complex they dont work.. i think its an addressing issue... get a laptop w a serial port..

My brother has some software...it's not CONSULT...but I believe it's ScanTool and it runs fine while running, but every now and then it will drop the connection.

CONSULT, or OBD-II? OBD-II is DLC, CONSULT is really just...the CONSULT connector, as it's a Nissan proprietary connector. It's a DLC as well, I suppose.

The FSMs refer to it as 'Data link connector for CONSULT':
