My baby has rust...

I brought my car to a car show this weekend. While detailing it, I noticed the driver's fender is rotted right in front of the wheel well. I guess I can't complain too much since I've had it over 7 years now, but I'm still sad. Any suggestions on a replacement fender? I'm probably just gonna go stock, but didn't know if there was something new and cool out there. I hate to admit, I don't browse the4th gen forum as much as I used to.

I would say get the spot painted or replaced if you have to. stock looks way better then the z3 fender, vented fender, whatever you called them.

That's one of the common rust areas on a 4th gen.
You can just grind out the area and use body filler with a mesh screen to fix it--if it's rusted through.

Alo, look in the right side same place. It's started rusting too!
While you're at it--check the top of the rear wheel wells they start rusting from the inside out.

Hey, if you're on the hunt for rust look at the center of the frame beam just under the radiator.

I have a small spot on the shock tower in the engine bay where the factory seem is. Some tiny spots on the roof from rock chips that were never taken care of. The lower rad support is starting to rust. Also, the drivers side passenger door has some on the leading edge.

Total re-paint!!!!!

drive a car from quebec Canada. Any and all bolts will break off at the head after the car is 4 years old due to the insane amount of salt that is used on the roads in the wintertime.

I throw a lawn sprinkler under the car when it's thawed out in the spring. You'll have a move it around a few times to get the whole underside, but it works.

Remove the rust, fill the spot with screen and bondo, sand and shape, primer right away (i mean within 48 hours rust starts immediately on bare metal) and paint when you can.

Look around on the net, you can save a ton of money doing some of the prep and work yourself.

The best primer you can use if you have bare metal is something like Rust Remover by Klean Strip. It turns oxidized (rusted) metal into Nickel and then primes it.
You can apply bondo over it or paint it with some other primer if it makes you feel better. Doing minor bodywork on spots like this isn't difficult but it takes some patience to do it right.

I will have to look for that primer. Working over some spots that bubble the paint.

My car has rust over the rear wheels and a little in the front. It hurts to look at but it's not my fault (my dad never washed the car). It doesn't really matter to me because as my graduation present, the whole car is gonna be repainted so whatever.
