Anyone running 35w HID Bulbs with a 55w HID Kit?

Anyone?

I got a full 55w kit for my soon to be arriving retrofit, but I'm thinking of keeping the 6000k bulbs as spares and buying a set of Phillips 85122 or Osram bulbs to use. If I'm not mistaken, OEM bulbs so far are all 35w.

Will I be blowing bulbs?

You'll be fine, running 50W on my 85122+ for a year now. Just don't use aftermarket 35W bulbs with 50/55W ballasts or you can kiss the projector bowl's surface goodbye.

Sweet.

What is the color of your 85122+ bulbs now after hours of use?

From what I've gathered, 85122+ bulbs are 4100k and don't really change in color. 85122 are 4300k and get to about 4800k after use. I want it closer to 5000k (more white than yellow), which is why I'm going with the 85122 and not the 85122+.

By the way...your I is sexy. My most favorite.

Thanks the 85122+ has not color shifted per its reputation, I would say it's a solid 4100-4300K even with 50W washout.

Gotcha.

I'll give the 85122's a try I think.

Aftermarket bulbs are rebadged 35w bulbs

OEM bulbs work GREAT with 50w ballasts so you will be fine. And they are barely any more hotter.

Yes, the only TRUE 55w bulbs are the DL50's, but the 85122/oem bulbs work fine at 55w
