Just installed a FSTB on my '97 GLE

Just bought and installed a FSTB on my '97 GLE. Took it out for a ride on a local windy road and immediately noticed a huge difference. The car does not rise up in tight curves and handles a lot smoother.
I was really surprised with the great difference this inexpensive mod makes. I am installing a PRCAI this weekend and my Y pipe should be here tomorrow or Friday.

I definitely got the bug!

I just got the regular one from Custommaxima.com.

Real easy to install just make sure you are on a level surface.

No torque wrench. I was told to hand tighten until I could no longer turn the wrench. I was told this by Greg at Custommaxima.

I would use a torque wrench just in case. if you do not tighten those nuts correctly, you will run the risk of shearing the bolts...

How tight should they be?
For a '97 they should be between 29 and 40.
35 lbs is good.

How can you hand-tighten until you can't turn the wrench? Hmm...

Get thee to eBay, order a cheap $20 torque wrench. Then get a Haynes manual. You'll never be asking questions about torque specs again.

Just installed my FSTB yesterday, it was raining today so I couldn't really push it through any corners but I can already feel a difference in the front end. I can't belive the difference it makes for less than $50, why the hell didn't the Maxima come with one?

My tourqe wrench is 1/2" and the socket I used is 3/4 drive so I have to get a new socket or adapter to tourqe the bolts. I tried to use about the same amount of effort it took to get them off.

No torque wrench. I was told to hand tighten until I could no longer turn the wrench. I was told this by Greg at Custommaxima.
This could vary by quite a bit depending on the size of the wrench. How about using the 'universal tourque wrench', I would suggest going to 'Pretty Tight' or 'Real Tight'

so how about driving over uneven/rough roads? does the car feel more rigid to you with this custommaxima bar (in the form of less sqeaks rattles and road noise)?
