Exhaust Question

I plan on purchasing a Ebay catback strictly for the piping. I have a muffler that I would like to use. Its a Magnaflow universal with tip (link below). My only concern is that the inlet on the muffler is 2.25" and the ebay catback is 2.5". I can easily get a reducer but will this hurt my performance at all. Magnaflow only makes the muffler in 2.25" and 3" and I really don't want to spend another $160 on a muffler especially because i got mine for $40 lol. Note I will also have a warpspeed y pipe and hi flow cat.

You might lose a couple of horse power up top but, you might create good back presser. If its horse power you are after and less restriction you should match the piping diameter. If you don't care about losing a few horse power considering you are going to gain a hole bunch after you put that y pipe what 2 or 3 hp's going to mater anyways. Just do it but keep in mind this is coming from some one that has OBX headers and header back exhaust I would match the piping diameter.

If you do lose power, it'll be next to nothing. Maybe 2-3hp at most.

Fitting a reducer will probably go unnoticed as far as performance, your only bringing it back down a quarter inch. CM's resonator pipe is good money, I have that catback and very happy with but I'm probably gonna hook up a Borla muffler in the summer. CM's muffler works good , I have 2.5 inches from front to back, all high flow but just like Borla's mufflers. Still though, no complaints on the CM muffler, just hook it up with reducer, good wrenching my dude.

i mean, with an exhaust you gain like 3 horsepower.... but with this piping you will get 2.78 hp...

...it doesnt matter.... you wont even feel the difference...

You know this for sure? Are you speaking peak or under the curve? Most high flow mufflers alone gain 5 peak whp!

I copped the Custom Maxima catback to go with My Magna Flow HF Cat/ CES front pipe and I'm feelin' the flow, the muffler sounds really good. I left the silencer in and I'm very impressed for what I paid for the catback. I'm looking to change out the muffler eventually to a Borla but not because I don't like the CM muffler.
