replaced half-shaft and forgot the dust guard....
so in my hurry to replace my passenger side half shaft I forgot to take that dust guard ring (not sure what it's called) off the old one and put it on the new shaft. I really don't feel like doing this all over again tomorrow so how important or necessary is that little metal ring?
When I replaced my passenger-side axle this past summer it came with one on it and ready to go...?
I believe he means the metal ring on the passenger axle itself to protect the axle seal (least that's what I believed it was for, correct me if my assumption is wrong).

Yup, it's that metal ring that protects the axle seal. Sounds like I don't need to worry about it. At least not enough to make me pull the axle again. Thanks guys I just needed some reassuring.
