Removing them is simple yank and pry in a jerking twisting motion. They'll come out

it was easy to uninstall and install the new ones the butyl just made it hard to take out lol and i used a screw driver to remove the butyl on the old tail light and reused it to double seal my new tail lights

I would suggest opening them up & painting them from the inside. I bought a used pair of those lights a few years back from another org member. He had painted them on the outside & had over spray & paint runs all over them. I had to wet sand & repaint them. Although the end result wasn't that bad it definitely would've looked cleaner & factory looking if it was done from the inside. Either way do light even coats & compare them to the red portion of the inner lights in between coats so they don't end up being darker. Don't forget to spray a few layers of clear.

no need for that. when I got my david l's used, they were painted with crappy testors paint. I sanded the tail lights down to all clear again and used some japanese tail light paint which is what David L actually used and gives a damn near perfect match to the inner reds.

He's talking about the vans paint that kasso posted, not the testors.

Even if you open them up and paint the inside, getting a perfect match is extremely difficult. I did that to mine. The end result looks great from 10 - 15 feet away, and just okay close up.

I just posted the first thing I found online. I only paid $20 for mine, you just have to look around. Usually JDM *cough* honda, ricer *cough* shops stock vans' paints in all the colors.

As for clear, it looks great without it, but they make a clear too I believe.

I've owned my A32 for almost 2 years. I am not a mechanic, just a college student. Removal of the taillights was a easy task. Not trying to bash you, just saying.

again no offense, because youre pretty well informed when it comes to a lot of discussion on this board, but a taillight IS a body part. and its a very simple body part at that, which frequently needs to be removed to do a laundry list of things.
