Changed battery cables & fuses & still no power?

I'm at a loss trying to figure out what's going on with my 99 SE-L. 173,000 miles. Good battery, starter and everything was re-connected right & tight. Anyone care to guess what the problem could possably be?

How's your main battery fuse?

+1... doesnt take much to kill that guy... its the fuse in the center of the long rectangle box. Screw in type. typically a 140, but a 120 is ok. iirc.

Sounds like it could be alarm related. Happened to a buddy of mine, took forever to figure it out. Check the fuses and make sure you hooked everything up correctly. Most important ensure you have a good ground.

Alarm just makes the car unable to start, it won't disable the car to the point where you can't even get power to anything.

If you turn the key to ACC/ON and nothing lights up, it's a power/short/fuse problem.

My friends SUV didn't have any power except on the alarm light.

It doesn't appear to be blown.

The car started shuttering and died out on my girl. Went to help her and tapped on the battery wires and it started right up. Now absolutely nothing. I'm gonna take the battery to get tested again at somewhere other than walmart. I think that's the issue.

Check for corrosion up inside the covering of the battery cables too.

Sounds like this is a job for a certified electrician man. Get it to someone who can diagnose it properly

+1 on this. The cables can corrode INSIDE the insulation - they look fine but don't work well.

Check your fusible links! They're located @ the positive battery post terminal!

I think he might want to take a few simple steps before doing that....

What are your symptoms?
What circuits work?
What circuits don't work?
What was the last work done before the problem?
what were the circumstances during the event?

We need info, or all we can give you is speculation.
