Fog lights just stopped working...

Hi guys,

I have a 99 SE and for whatever reason, my fog lights just stopped working at the same time. Not sure if it's coincidental, but I replaced the stock bulbs today with some Xenon 55 watt H3 bulbs.

I have replaced the relay, the 15 amp fuse, and put the stock bulbs back in, but no luck. I haven't checked the wiring harness, but I don't feel like that would be the issue. Any idea why this is happening?

Here are the specs for the bulbs I put in the car today:

Part Number: XB-H3BP
Weight: 0.15 lbs
Clear
H3 Bulb
Amperage Draw: 4.58
Attachment Method: Plug In
Bulb Call-Out Size: H3
Bulb Technology: Halogen
Bulb Type: Halogen

Thanks in advance for your help!

There are 2 fuses involved. One fuse is the power for the fog light bulbs and the other is used to energize the relay. They are both under the hood. The one labeled fog is for the bulbs, but I don't know the label for the other one. It is a 15 amp, on the battery side, the first one from the front. This 2nd fuse is also used for more than just the fog light relay, so if everything else is working, it's probably OK.

Harness is easily broken. Did you put in a Nissan relay?

Have you tested for voltage with a multimeter?

Testing voltage is my next step. I haven't had a chance to because of school, work, and super bowl. I'll update this when I check. Thanks!

Headlights are working just fine. My fog lights worked for about an hour before they both just stopped working completely. I made sure I had the correct bulb, and I do! Not sure why the harness would just go out.

When I flip the fog light switch, I can hear the relay click, so I think the switch is fine. Even with the old bulbs back in, they won't come on!

For assemblies, I would check ebay. For bulbs, just go to your local parts store!

do you have access to digital multi meter? id suggest looking for voltage at either of the 2 terminals and run the ground on the multimeter to the battery negative. otherwise replace the fog lamp bulbs. you'd be suprised. both my head lights went out at the same time and it just so happend to be my bulbs (new), my last thought after checking everything else. otherwise id suspect pinched/cut wires somwhere if all else checks out. with relays clickin, headlights working.

If 15amp fuse is good and relay clicks yes you should check for voltage at the connector closest to bulb(lamp) car on 14v car off 12v if you have voltage at connector then you have incorrectly reinserted the Grounding ring which holds lamp in place, this ring must be flush on lamp base, if not on correctly u can still measure 12v and get no light, also manually power bulbs with a 9v battery to see if they are good.
