water leak behind glovebox after heavy rain

Hey,

I've been trying to search for an answer for quite some time but didn't find anything clear.

My 4th gen is leaking from behind the glovebox, from the blower motor and elsewhere when I hose it down with a garden hose on the cowl. I just can't seem to find the darn leak!!! Its not from the sunroof, its definitely from the cowl.

Anyone have the same issue and managed to fix it? I'd really appreciate it!!

You live in an area where rust is a common problem. You could have rust-threw on the cowl behind the windshield seal.

Here is a link to a thread in the 5th gen section from a guy that had a leak sounding very similar to yours. Since the 4th and 5th gens are fairly similar, you should check it out.

My 96 I30 leaked on both sides behind each fender. I had to cut this piece open to gain access to the rust.

Same problem on my 95 Hardbody.

nice. Did you do anything else to it or just cut that section out so it could drain properly?

I had to cut that support structure to see where the leak was.

I cut the rotten section out and riveted a piece of sheet metal with gasket maker around the seams and rivets. Then painted it with rustoleum paint afterwards.
