Knock sensor

What is a knock sensor? What function does it perform and where is it located? I went to a different autozone and this person was able to hook up their code reader and what came back was a faulty knock sensor and coolant temp sensor.

I've noticed that sense the check engine light came on the fuel economy has been terrible. Also...where is the coolant temp sensor located. Thanks again.

The knock sensor is there to adjust the timing when it detects knock, like when you use regular instead of premium fuel. It is located between the two cylinder banks, underneath the intake manifold. Get the Hitachi KNS0001, which is the actual OE part.

One thing you need to know about the knock sensor is that you will get that code 99.9% of the time when you have some other code. You will see the knock sensor code referred to as a "ghost code" because it always shows up with any other code.

Fix your other problem(s) first and most likely the knock sensor code will go away.

Just curious, but have you searched the Org for this info? Plenty out there to answer your questions.
