Airbag connection to clock spring on 1999 steering wheel in a 1996
Hi all,
I recently swapped my 1997 Infiniti i30 steering wheel over to the 1999 limited woodgrain wheel. I swapped over the hub and clock spring as well. Turns out the 1997 I30 uses the older 1995-1996 clock spring design (even though the car is a 1997, unless my car is really a 1996 but all 1997 Infiniti I30s seem to have the older 1995-1996 interiors), my issue is the airbag/clock spring wire harness is different so I cannot just plug it into the 1999 clock spring.
Does anyone know if I can just go and pull the 1999 harness out of a junked car and swap it into mine. I want to assume the airbag connections are the same on the module under the center console, but I am unsure. When i looked online it does appear that the harnesses are labeled as 1996-1999.
Has anyone done the complete harness swap when moving to the newer clockspring and hub? I know there is a thread on here about swapping the steering wheels by drilling into the 1999 to make it fit, but I would like to have a cleaner swap if possible.
Thanks all for any insight on this
