Audi S4 2.7L AWD bi-turbo 6 speed making ~250 HP 0-60 mid 5's
320HP+ with about $1500 in it making it probably a high 12's - low 13's car doing 0-60 in low 5's - high 4's.
Audo A6 2.7L AWD bi-turbo 6 speed - same mod numbers, bigger car, a little slower in the 1/4, but you get more room
Both can be had for ~$37,000 with 5000 miles on them or a smidge over $40k new and all the trimmin's.
BMW 330ci (not EVEN real competition for the S4) 3.0L 225 HP I-6 N/A 0-60 in low 6's
34,990 BASE MODEL
BMW M3 (definitely competition) 3.2 I-6 333 HP @7900 RPM 0-60 4.8 secs
$45,900 Base, used can be MORE expensive with low miles
All these cars have EXCELLENT German build quality, tight suspensions, etc. All said and done, I'd rather have an M3 that would cost ~$55,000 after options and such, but that Audi S4 is a GREAT value. If you want pimp luxury and blazing speed while having a quiet comfy cabin and impeccable handling, then the S4 has it all - at about the same price as an optioned out 330 which won't be NEARLY as fast or have the special interior woodgrain that S4 comes with. For speed, the WRX can be totally tricked out for $5000 plus base price putting it under $30k, but c'mon, that's not pimp, that's just cool

I know everyone's different with different tastes but saying Audi is overpriced and overrated is just NOT true at all. Saying you don't prefer Audi's is another thing.
(Can't wait to get my NEW S4 when the v8 version comes out

German cars do rock, but who has an extra 20000 to blow... Stick with a max..... bang for the buck and all.
This is impossible
Some decisions you just have to get out and make yourself. First of all, dont lock yourself into Max v IS300. Their not even the same class of cars. My recomendation, get out there and test drive. Each of these cars have a half-dozen worthy competitors in there class. Take your time and look whats on the horizon. There are lots of new cars coming soon and you might want to see whats coming so your not lusting after a new car 6 months later. But most of all test drive
My vote G35 Sport Coupe
But you should make up your mind by experiencing these cars in person; everyone has a bias.

Yeah, GM and Toyota have entered on ventures. but im pretty sure that the lexus cars are all toyota, as they are just JDM toyotas with new badging, and i think some are made in the US. The IS300 would be good, but the IS430 would be the best choice. in superstreet magazine there is an IS300 with a widebody kit, 19" rims with huge lips , and hes gonna but a supra turbo motor and a 6 speed. Id take that over the max. sorry to say it but there is so much more u can do with an altezza than a maxima. I dont think its a chick car. girls just like them. and if u dont want a car that girls like, then you are unfortunately married or not into girls. lol. but it would be easier if u were comparing cars that we fairly similar. but get the altezza

But I'd go full route w/ the Maxima since the G35 is an all-new model and as always 1st yr productions are prone to having recalls (like the '02 Altima), but to each his own
I understand what you're saying, but I did say I THINK they are overpriced and overrated. You're right though, I should have just said I don't like Audi's and left it at that. By the way, has the build quality improved on them in recent years? I remember when the build quality on them wasn't so hot a few years ago. Where I live there are MANY BMWs around. I don't even notice them anymore, even the M3's. At the local car shows, I always see lots of men in the 40s with their M3s and M5s with aftermarket rims that they dropped alot of cash on and no other mods at all. I just yawn and pass them by. Half of them don't even know what kind of rims and tires they have on their car, they just know they paid $1500 a piece for them. I KNOW thats not you and you know a lot about cars, I'm just generalizing. When I turn 25, I'm gonna get something like a 350z, RX8, or a Skyline if they are out and not too pricey and trick it out completely. Its very rewarding beating a car that costs 10k to 30k more than yours did.

I would wait for a few months because you'll be kicking yourself if you can get a real cheap '02 or an '03 of better quality. None of us really no what the '03 will actually be like but what do you have to loose if you wait.......
The acura cl"s type" will still be around and look the same with the same spec. We all wish we had the same dilema you're having now

The CL-S is nice, but the G35 Coupe is better
Yeah, I'd wait for the fall season to get it, too. That car is going to be such a head turner. A Japanese sport coupe that not only has the power and suspenion, but looks very good and is stylish to boot. That thing might even eclipse the 350Z.
Enuff about the G35 coupe. The CL-S is alright

I'd wait if I were you. 350z, G35 coupe, RX8, EVO IV will all be out or soon to be out. That boring Acura will still be there if you still want it then.

Get the IS. Two of my friends have them. They look good, are decently quick, awesome interior, awesome build quality...and the thing that suprised me the most? My friend Nikki took his IS to Lexus for scheduled maint. and they gave him a RX300 loaner for two days. That's pretty good customer service to me. He said he woulda been happier with a GS4, but anyways
