noisy belts
My cousin has a 2k2 max 6spd, and well he noticed a noise coming from his engine compartment. Its the belts. What is the easiest way to tighten them, and also.. he said since it happened, his car feels a lot slower. Could a loose belt cause that, or is something else wrong?

The main 6rib Vbelt has a belt tension that can be seen right from the engine compartment. You must loosen the bolt on the idler pulley first. Then tighten the shaft bolt to tighten the whole belt. Then once you got it to the correct amount, tighten back down the bolt that was on the idler pulley.
This does the main one, if the other belt (the power steering pump) is still making the noise, then you need to get the passenger wheel off. Take the splash gaurd off. And losen the bolt on the power steering pump adjuster. Then from the bottom tight the bolt that makes the power steering pump raise up. Then re-lock down the bolt to keep it from backing down.
