I know how you feel...I just bought a 2002 Maxima SE one month ago. 2 weeks ago someone stole my Xenon headlights. $2,500 later I made them install the halogen lights instead because everyone told me that they're just going to keep coming back to steal them again and again. A friend had her's stolen 3 times already. My car still looks beautiful with the halogen lights so I don't feel so bad, but it's a shame you can't have anything nice without people messing with your stuff. My other alternative was to stay up all night with a baseball bat!!! Good luck.

OK i dont understand.
If they Tear the HeadLights Out > Doesnt that break the HID thing or what do they even DO with these? They'd have to get the Ballast and everything all the wiring and all that BS without breakin it. Are they really that smart.????

When they stole my headlights they somehow got in through the hood. They clipped the wires of my factory-alarm (which is good for nothing). I have to say they did a beautiful job in stealing the headlights. They did not damage anything other than unbolt the headlights and cleanly cut the wires. They did not damage my hood or grill or anything like that. The cops and mechanic said it was very professionally done and that I was lucky because normally they do alot more damage. Since then I put in a better alarm and the regular halogen headlights.

Does anyone know how I can post a picture of my car without the headlights? I'm new to this forum. Thanks.

If the guy has 1/2 a brain he will sue you. Your dog attacked him and thats against the law. You assulted him as well and thats against the law.

Don't be suprised if YOU wind up in a lot of hot water. Unfortunately, thats the law.

If somebody breaks into your house and you assult them and they are unarmed, guess who's in trouble? If I were you, I'd get a lawyer and get ready just in case this guy gets smart, if your story is true you could be in a ton of trouble very shortly.

Doubt it, the guy had a pry bar and was trespassing. Despite some of the urban legends out there talking about ridiculously frivolous lawsuits I have a feeling any decent judge would throw out the suit as having no merit. Look at what happened with the lawsuit against McDonalds. From time to time common sense does prevail

I have to agree. Here in WA State (most states probably have laws that are very similar) a person has the right to DETAIN someone that's committing a crime on their property and await the authorities. They have the right to use REASONABLE force to detain them. Of course, you have the right to defend yourself as you do anywhere you are. The fact that this is happening on your property or inside your home does not enable you to use unreasonable force. If this guy had pulled out a weapon when he confronted him, then the rules change. If you are in fear for your safety, or that of your family, that also changes the rules.

I personally think the guy deserved to have his gonads gnawed off by the Rott!! I hope he didn't tell the cops he let the dog out specifically to eat the guy!!!

I agree, the guy does deserve punishment for the attempted theft. HID theft is a huge problem and needs to be stopped. I feel for you 5th gen owners with HID's. I didn't mean to say what the guy did was wrong, morally, but the way the story was written, he could seriously be in a lot of trouble.

WOW, that's surprising. Is HID a common target for theives? Why is that, since don't they have to have the hood open just to take it apart?
