Larry got his ECU back and I'm waiting on Tadashis' response on when you should bring your car in for reflashing.
Hopefully, you're still up for it.

mad2kmax - Honestly, I doubt it will happen *UNLESS* we can convince TS that the R&D is worthwhile by LOTS of 2001 5spd and autos purchasing their reflash.

BTW ICE, Just a reminder, because of the other ECU "incident", I now have the newest (my original one was one of the first gen because my car was built so early) AE Auto flash as well. So I am going to assume Tadashis will want to send mine out (again) to get the newest updates as well. I know we talked about this before, but alot of time/other things have happened in the meantime so you may have forgotten.

Yes, I did forget.
Check your email, so we can figure this one out.

advanced timing, tuned fuel maps, raised rev limiter.
my stock AE ecu before the TS reflash has the highest version of ECU software nissan offers (4Y916- most tsbs and bugs worked out). Nissan only offers up to 4Y915 for non-dealer downloads and icey2k1's spare ecu originally had 4Y913
i have the y-pipe on now. Just waiting for the b-pipe and i'll go and dyno

Larry,
Does your OBD scanner show 23710-4Y916 as the part number?

no. The scanner I have plugs into my labtop, it doesn't list part #'s. I saw those versions on the computer at TS when both our ECUs were plugged in and getting reflashed.
they found out mine was ver.16 so they went to some nissan-tech site, but it only offered up to ver.15. Thats why my ECU got sent back to japan to crack

Yes, I remember Danny telling me your latest cat efficiency TSB reflash bumped you up to xx916, which is WHY your ECU was sent to Techtom also. If you look where TS gets their updates from it only has up to xx915: http://www.nissan-techinfo.com/nissan/ecm.asp?
Which OBD scanner do you have?

I was ASKED for you guys NOT to do that.
Why you guys think it's necessary to talk with TS, I don't know.
ALL the pertinent info is here and we are working on it as planned, just slowly.
***PLEASE*** keep your $$$$ ready, so that WHEN Tadashi tells *ME* that it is ready for sale, I will have you guy lined up to send in your ECUs without chaos/mixups/confusion.***PLEASE**

nismo-max: they probably want to work out all bugs and minor tweaks before releasing it into public

LM323 v2.0

And it should give you a bunch data, like this:
BUS INIT: ...OK
49 04 01 31 32 59 39
49 04 02 31 38 00 00
49 04 03 00 00 00 00
49 04 04 00 00 00 00
49 04 05 56 58 32 33
49 04 06 35 47 00 00
49 04 07 00 00 00 00
49 04 08 00 00 00 00
this data contains your calibration id decoded from hex to ascii, like this:
12Y918VX235G
2Y918 is the important part.

Doesn't matter to me if I don't get the ECU. I will just find other ways to be fast. Over winter once the car is stored the intake manifold comes off and taken to a machine shop to see if they can make a better one.

Here is WHY 1999s and 2000s are out-of-luck....
Courtesy of Tadashi@TechnoSquare:
He says the 2001s lucked out because they use the same CPU found in the 350Z. The 2000 uses TWO unique CPUs, which are different from both the 1999 and 2001. He doesn't feel it's worth the R&D to develop a unique flash programmer just for the 2000s.
Hopefully, 2001s buy the crap out of these things as soon as they're released to maybe help convince him that 2000s are worthwhile.

It's as if Nissan made the Maxima so their could be no aftemarket development. No nismo products, changing the ECU every 6 months, etc.!
I'm sorry, it just makes me upset that it would take so long and so much man power to crack it only to find out a significant amount of them still aren't cracked.

BTW, that 2000 is an early production Cali spec auto ECU w/o TCS.
If anyone opens up their 2000 ECU, please let me know if it looks different.
Maybe a later 2000 ECU is similar to the 2001s and can use the same programmer, maybe the 2001 Cali ECU will work in a 2000 Cali car, maybe not.
I'm pretty sure 2000 Fed specs are screwed.

WoW, everytime I read a new post by ICE I am amazed at the amount of research, thought, thoroughness and work he has put into this project. I just want to say that EVERYONE on this thread should thank ICE. And just because unfortunatly it hasn't worked out for everyone, or has been completed yet, does not take away from the fact that there are very few people on this board that are willing to give even a 1/10th the commitment that ICE has.
Anyway good job Alex and keep it up.

Thanks..but YOU and Larrio are the man, not me.
Yeah I'm out a little money, but you were without your Max for ~2-months while driving your track SER as your temp daily driver, warranty issues, and Larry was without his Max for a week begging rides, completed several trips to TechnoSquare to do several dyno tunes, and even paid for his own dyno runs to help trouble-shoot his VIAS problem. And you're not even done yet.
Anyways, without you two suckers...er...guinea-pigs...er...volunteers, none of this would have been possible. I live in AZ and TechnoSquare is in Cali, so without local members such as you two willing to STEP UP, this lucky break for at least 2001s wouldn't have happened no matter WHAT I did on my end.
Again, thanks Larry and Daniel for putting up with my nagging and volumes of email banter. I hope you guys know how much respect/appreciation I have for you guys. Hopefully, this pans out soon and I hope it's worth all the BS you've gone through in the end.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to come across as ungrateful or anything, I understand a lot of hard work and time must go into this. Good luck with this guys, I hope it all works up to/beyond expectations.

Cool deal thanx to you guys, when will we be able to get the ECU reprogrammed ? My car is going into storage soon so I could send out the ECU for a full program. I have headers, no cats at all, catback, flywheel, UDP, PR CAI for power mods along with S-AFCII and wideband to tune my car up. Think all the mods are going to make some power with the ECU ? Seeing how they can't get a ECU right on a 3.5L with headers, will this pose an issue with the 3.0Ls ?

VQ35 ECUs have that CVTC stuff that I don't think TS/JWT or anyone else besides NISMO has figured out yet.
The VQ30s don't have that problem, but until we get some baseline dynos, I'm not going to promise any gains other then a raised rev-limiter and better AFR.

Thanks Ice, Larrio, and Regime! I have learned so much from you guys, and thanks again for your time and commitment helping to produce the Ts Ecu. And am Happy to have you guys as a Moderator...... Hands to u Guys!!!!!!!

Why is everyone so concerned about the stupid EGR? The '01 ECU does not give a rats behind about the EGR on the '00 manifold. It is irrelevant.
